PrayerLord, help our sons’ in their work today and tomorrow;

give them the concentration they need so that they may listen, understand, learn, have a peaceful mind and may they always remember that Christ is always with them no

matter what.

Give them the strength and courage to do what is right and use technology wisely. May it become a tool that advances their learning and may your hand guide their studies over

the coming years.

We ask this through Christ our Lord,Amen.

Why a Laptop?• St Mary’s College aims to promote excellence

and provide challenging and stimulating learning experiences and opportunities that enable all students to explore and build on their gifts and talents. The College is also conscious of the importance of providing learning experiences which provide our students with the 21st Century skills, knowledge and values that will ensure a successful transition from school to further training, education and/or the workplace.

Why a Laptop? (cont’d)• With this in mind and information from strategic

planning community consultation, the College is entering a new phase of our Technology plan with the introduction of laptops for the Year 10 and Year 11 students in 2016.

• Best technology for the task. The iPad is an excellent device, but it is not the best device for some task / learning activities. The laptop allows students to use the device that best suits the task they have been given.

Page 12: Laptop Roll-Out 2016. Prayer Lord, help our sons’ in their work today and tomorrow; give them the concentration they need so that they may listen, understand,

Option 1. Payout and retain the iPad

• This option involves the paying out of the iPad and the transition to the laptop payment program.

• In this method, you would then own the iPad.

Option 2. Returning the iPad.

• This option involves returning the iPad to the College. The iPads must be in good working order (no cracked screens etc.) and must include the charger. Option 3. Retain the iPad.• This option involves the continued use of the iPad as

the College device. This includes continuing the existing payment plan. The possibility exists for students to continue to use this iPad through until they complete Year 12, although the College will still maintain control of the device.

• In the event of failure of the device, a replacement iPad will be provided. This process will attract a fee comparable to the fee being paid at that time. This may mean that they will not be able to keep the device at the end of their time here at the College.
