Paul and Silas were in

Philippi, preaching the

gospel.

A young girl who was sick in

her mind, followed Paul and

Silas around. She called out,

“These men are servants of

the most high God, which

shew unto us the way of

salvation.”

Paul felt sad for the

young girl and healed her

of her sickness.

The masters of the girl were

angry when the girl was healed.

They used to make money from

her, because they pretended

she could tell what could

happen in the days ahead.

They grabbed Paul and Silas.

Paul and Silas are dragged

to the marketplace and

beaten by the rulers of the

city. They are then thrown

into prison.

The jailor was ordered to make

sure Paul and Silas did not

escape from prison. He put

them in the inner prison and

put their feet in stocks.

At midnight, Paul and Silas

prayed and sang praises to God.

There was a huge

earthquake, and the prison

was shaken to its

foundations. All the doors

flew open and the

prisoners’ chains fell off.

The jailor woke up and saw that

the prison doors were open. He

thought all the prisoners had

escaped and that he would be

put to death. He took out his

sword to kill himself, but Paul

told him not to because

everyone was still there!

The jailor wanted to learn

what he must do to be

saved. Paul and Silas

preached the gospel to the

jailor and the people in his

house.

The jailor washed the wounds

of Paul and Silas. Then the

jailor and everyone in his house

believed the gospel and were

baptised.

The next morning, the rulers

of the city asked Paul and

Silas to leave. They went to

Lydia’s house first, to

encourage the brothers and

sisters, and then left Philippi.

BIBLE MARKING DAY 1

ACTS 9v1-9 - The Conversion of Saul1And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the

disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,2 And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he

found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring

them bound unto Jerusalem.3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there

shined round about him a light from heaven:4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul,

why persecutest thou me?5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom

thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to

do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be

told thee what thou must do.7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a

voice, but seeing no man.8 And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw

no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

BIBLE MARKING DAY 2

ACTS 14v8-22 - Paul and Barnabas in Lystra

8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a

cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and

perceiving that he had faith to be healed,10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their

voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us

in the likeness of men.12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he

was the chief speaker.13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and

garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their

clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like

passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.9 And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

ACTS 9v17-25 - The Changed Saul17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his

hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto

thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive

thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he

received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.19 And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul

certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.20And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.21 But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that

destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither

for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews

which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.23 And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:24 But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates

day and night to kill him.25Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these

vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea,

and all things that are therein:16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good,

and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with

food and gladness.18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they

had not done sacrifice unto them.19 And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who

persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city,

supposing he had been dead.20 Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came

into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught

many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue

in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the

kingdom of God.

BIBLE MARKING DAY 3

ACTS 16v12-15 - Lydia in Philippi12 And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of

Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where

prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the

women which resorted thither.14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of

Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord

opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us,

saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my

house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

ACTS 16v23-34 - Paul and Silas in Prison, the Earthquake23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into

prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison,

and made their feet fast in the stocks.

BIBLE MARKING DAY 4

ACTS 19v11-20 - Paul in Ephesus

11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or

aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went

out of them.13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call

over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We

adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the

priests, which did so.15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know;

but who are ye?16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and

overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that

house naked and wounded.17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at

Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was and made their feet fast in the stocks.25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and

the prisoners heard them.26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of

the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and

every one's bands were loosed.27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the

prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself,

supposing that the prisoners had been fled.28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell

down before Paul and Silas,30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be

saved, and thy house.32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in

his house.33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their

stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before

them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was

magnified.18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books

together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price

of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

BIBLE MARKING DAY 5

ACTS 27v20-26, 41-44 - The Shipwreck20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small

tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.21 But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and

said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from

Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of

any man's life among you, but of the ship.23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and

whom I serve,24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo,

God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be

even as it was told me.26 Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the

hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.42 And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them

should swim out, and escape.43 But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose;

and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first

into the sea, and get to land:44 And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship.

And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

ACTS 28v19-20, 30-31 - In Rome19 But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto

Caesar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak

with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

all that came in unto him,31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern
