The Power of I Statements
An I statement describes (1) the other person’s behavior, (2) your feelings, and (3) the consequences the other’s behavior has for you,
“I get embarrassed (feeling) when you talk about my bad grades in front of our friends (behavior). I’m afraid they’ll think I’m stupid (consequence).”
