Classroom ExpectationsThe atmosphere in this classroom will be formal and academic, but comfortable.
Students will work hard, learn about literature and language, and hopefully enjoy the process.
If a visitor walked into our classroom during the day, what should they see?
Slide 5
My expectations Things for students to know to ensure the classroom runs smoothly:
•We are a community. In this community we respect every person in this room.
•This is our classroom. We will handle all equipment and materials
properly at all times.•My learning is my responsibility.
Every student should prepare for his or her own learning.
•Cheating or plagiarizing will not be tolerated.

Tardy Procedure (1)
Enter the classroom quietly, pick up the daily handouts, and join in the classroom activities with minimal disruption. — You must pick up and fill out a “tardy form” explaining the reason for the tardy. The form can be found at the entrance table by the door. You will turn it in by the end of the class period to me or to the form box if it is excused.
Slide 14
Tardy Procedure (2)• If you accumulate 3 unexcused tardy forms in one grading period, we will discuss a consequence.— If you accumulate 4 tardy forms or more in one grading period, an office referral will be written with the tardy forms attached.
— If you are more than 10 minutes late to class (unexcused), it will be counted as an unexcused absence.
Slide 15
Absence Procedure
When you are absent, check with your group to find out what you missed. Do not ask the teacher. –
Remember 3 before Me
If you are missing work from an absence, the “Class Aid Box” will provide the materials you are missing.
You will have until the end of the week to complete your missed work.
Slide 16
Listening & Responding
When we are having class discussions, raise your hand to be called on and actively listen to whoever is speaking.
Teacher will give specific instructions when students are to call out answers without first raising their hands. Ask only questions that are relevant to the lesson.
Be respectful of all comments and ideas, even if they differ from yours.
