Accanto alle varietà tradizionali furono messe a dimora una serie di cultivar alloctoni; l’idea era quella di osservarne le potenzialità e i limiti su un territorio, quello piemontese, capace di segnare con forza l’espressività e la resa nel bicchiere. Dopo alcuni anni di vinificazioni in purezza, nel 1997, ha preso corpo il progetto di realizzare un unico vino, assemblando le varietà che meglio si erano acclimatate sul territorio. Da quel momento Cabernet, Merlot e Syrah, elaborati separatamente, vengono affinati in legno e poi uniti in percentuale differente a seconda dell’annata nella caratteristica bottiglia che porta il nome della tenuta. Monsordo è un vino dal carattere moderatamente moderno, capace di raccontare le tipicità delle varietà che lo generano e pure fortemente marcato dal terroir di Langa: un vino dai modi internazionali ma dall’accento spiccatamente piemontese. Alongside the traditional varieties, a series of foreign varieties were planted; the idea was to observe their potential and limitations in the region of Piedmont, and their capacity to strongly exhibit expressiveness and performance in the glass. After several years of singular production, in 1997, the project became to create a unique wine blending the varieties that were best acclimatized to the region. From that moment Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, each made separately, were aged in wood and then blended in varying percentages depending on the year, and put in the characteristic bottle that bears the name of the estate. Monsordo is a wine with a relatively modern character, able to express the characteristics of its component varieties but also strongly influenced by the Langa terroir: an international wine but with a distinctly Piedmontese accent.
