Dear Families,
Once again, I am truly awed with the amount of chocolate sales sold and pur-
chased in our little community. Approximately $19K was sold over a two-week period with Baldwin Creek receiving 50% of the sales. A BIG thank
you to our students, parents, staff, and community for supporting our World’s
Finest Chocolate fundraiser.
As we “march” into the final quarter of the school year, the Proficiency
Assessment for Wyoming Students (PAWS) begins. Students will be assessed
in math and reading plus science in fourth grade. In this issue, I have shared a page of helpful hints for test preparation with your child. PAWS is similar in
nature to the ACT that high school students complete. Even though PAWS is
not used as an entrance exam to the next grade level, like ACT for college, it is utilized in determining individual strengths as well as areas of opportunity
for growth.
Finally, a couple weeks ago I shared with the staff that Mr. Morton and I decided to change positions starting next school year. I will be moving over
to Gannett Peak as principal and Mr. Morton is coming to Baldwin
Creek starting the fall of 2016. This is truly bittersweet for me as I love the age of the students, staff and parents at Baldwin Creek, but change is good for
everyone and I’m excited for the new journey at Gannett Peak. The past eight
years as the former West and now Baldwin Creek Principal have truly been some of my best years in education. I look forward to seeing many of you
with younger children at Gannett Peak. Thank you for all your support and
sending your very best kids!
Sincerely in Education,
Leslie Voxland, Principal

Along with campfires and arts and crafts, our campers will experience independence, team build-ing, and learning to thrive in the natural world. We will create a team environment where youth will learn by natural consequence while building confidence by the power of outdoor adventure. The foothills of the Wind River Range will be our home base at CWC Sinks Canyon Center and the newly-built dorms. Our campers will take on outdoor rock climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, fly-fishing, painting on canvas, and archery. The last few days will include a three-day/three-night backpacking adventure into the Wind River Range where they will learn to set up a camp, cook for themselves, use map skills and “Leave No Trace” practices. It’s a taste of many outdoor activities and an immersive experience that will make a deep imprint on campers, leaving them with lasting skills and confidence they can transfer to all aspects of their lives.
