Transcript of Land pollutions
What is land pollution?Land Pollution is the destruction of the earth’s land surfaces, often directly or indirectly as a result of humans’ activities and their misuse of land resources.
Sources of land pollution• Agricultural sources• Ashes• Mining sources• Industrial sources• Sewage Treatment• Garbage or waste• Construction sources• Deforestation• Chemical And Nuclear Plants• Oil Refineries
Effects of land pollution
• Land and environment• Toxic material in the soil• Dump sites and landfills
Soil contamination• Soil Pollution:
Human introduce chemical objects into the ground —> ecosystem
• Soil Contamination:
High concentration of chemicals—> when get in touch with live beings is called pollution
• Soil Degradation:
loss of value—> over-farming, over-grazing
• What causes it?
Pesticides,Herbicides, industry water discharge
• consequences:
Plants are affected and other beings
Prevention• Solutions:
Reduce WasteRe-use any items you canRecycling
• Suggested:
Buy biodegradable productsEat food grown without pesticidesDon’t use pesticidesDon’t dump motor oil into the ground
Land pollution factsPAPER:• 1 tonne of recycled paper -> 17 trees are saved
• Recycling needs 70 % less energy than producing new papers
• Every 10 tonnes of paper recycled is 10 tonnes less on its way to landfill.
• UK: 13 million tonnes of paper each year
• Gives Methane (greenhouse gas) when it decomposes
Land pollution facts
METAL:• 1 recycled aluminum can = TV for 3 h
• Aluminum can be recycled as often as you want
• 1 new aluminum can = 20 recycled ones
• Recycling tin cans saves 74 % of energy
Facts• We lose 24 billion tonnes of top soil/ year because of
land pollution
• More than 80 % of the materials in landfills could be recycled
• Every day: enough garbage to fill 63000 garbage trucks
• Each year/person: 3285 pounds of dangerous waste (America)
