Dear Parents and Friends,
Planning 2019 As you can imagine, planning for 2019 is well underway. Our funding is reliant on the number of
student enrolments and enrolments determine the number of classes that we can have. If you will
not be returning to Lancelin Primary School next year, please inform the office as soon as possible.
Retirement One of our long standing teachers, Rhonda Brentnall has decided to retire at the end of the 2018
school year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rhonda for her dedication and hard work,
and making a difference to the lives of the students she has taught in the 30 plus years she has been
teaching, and especially 16 years she has been at Lancelin. Rhonda will be missed by the students,
staff, parents and the school community and we wish her all the best for this next phase of her life’s
journey. Enjoy Rhonda!!

Cricket I am really looking forward to being with our year 4, 5 and 6 students at the cricket carnival in Gingin on Friday and the children are very excited. It looks like it is going to be a hot day (forecast 32°)
Perfect for cricket. Orientation Our year 6 students are soon to be involved in secondary school orientations. On 14th November students who will be attending year 7 in 2019 at Gingin District High will have their orientation day. Letters and information will be coming home with the students today. If you don’t get the information, please ask at the office and they will provide the handouts for you. On 16th November the students who will be attending Yanchep Secondary College will be attending their orientation. Information regarding this has also been sent home. Again if you did not receive it, please ask at the office and they will provide the handouts for you. Thanks Thanks to the parents who have popped in and said hello. It has been wonderful to meet all of you and I hope to meet more of you in the coming weeks. Reminder Please remember students should not be at school before 8:30. Staff at school before 8:30 are preparing for your child’s school day. Breakfast club opens at 8:30 and there is a teacher on duty from this time.

Incursions Thank you to Mrs Skoglund and Mrs Temby for organising the three wonderful incursions that have occurred in the
last week and have given your children a huge variety of learning experiences. World of Maths visited on Friday
and it was wonderful to see all the students engaged and working cooperatively in a wide variety of problem
solving activities. Mike Mathews, the WoM presenter, asked me to also thank the students for showing exemplary
behaviour. Thanks to the parents and grandparents who came and assisted on the day. Your help is very much
appreciated. On Tuesday the Scientastic incursion entertained the students while teaching them about the various
forms of matter. Students were highly engaged and there was raucous laughter emanating from the music room.
On Wednesday Julie, Frank and Donna from Bunnings came to work with the students. Our younger students
honed their woodworking skills making trucks and spice racks, while our older students worked really hard setting
up the frog pond and weeding and replanting. What wonderful learning opportunities for our students! A huge
thank you to all those involved.
