Of all the many blessings I could enumerate as we approach this
years Thanksgiving season, in light of the historical moment
staring us in the face the rst of the month of November (the
6th
, to be exact), let me menon two:
The rst is the blood-bought, precious freedom to vote. In this my nal news-
leer arcle leading up to this unprecedented elecon, I can think of no beer
way to drive home the signicance of biblically principled vong than to refer-
ence a recent full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal and USA Today by the BillyGraham Evangelisc Associaon. Other papers will carry this ad. Spoken by not
only Americas Pastor, but I would also say Americas Prophet, Billy Gra-
hams words in that ad need to ring out across this naon:
The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren and this great na-
on is crucial. As I approach my 94th
birthday (November 7), I realize this elec-
on could be my last. I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for
candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the na-
on of Israel.
THE JOURNEY OF A SHOE BOX
Operaon Christmas Child
The mission of Operaon Christmas Child is to demon-
strate Gods love in a tangible way to needy children
around the world, and together with churches world-
wide we are able to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our church goal is
200 boxes. Please see page 3 for details about the contents of each box.
Also please remember to enclose $7. per box for shipping costs.

A few mes a year, as a num-
ber of my various obligaons
all come due at the same me,
I enter into survival mode,
simply exisng to get the next
thing done. As I was telling
someone the other day, at this point instead of burning acandle at both ends, I've just thrown the whole thing in
the re. My life is busy, and every waking moment could
easily be lled with something else to do.
Now, don't read this as plea for pity or mercy. What I
have come to realize is that I am not nearly alone in my
over commied condion. Busy schedules, eminent
deadlines, and overwhelming lives are just a new factor
in our society.
In light of this, when talking about personal holiness in
class this week, I somewhat chuckled when we were in-structed to nd unhurried and unhindered me in our
daily lives to give to God. Unhurried? Unhindered? In my
life? Even if I set aside an hour just to pray I would feel
rushed by everything else that loomed over me. Maybe
that's just an excuse though, maybe if I realized how valu-
able that me with God is I would have no problem fo-
cusing just on it.
The great reformer Marn Luther said this: "I have so
much business I cannot get on without spending three
hours daily in prayer." Is that our atude? We are by nomeans as busy as Luther. Talk about weight and pressure.
This was a man who, with some other men, changed the
course of history. So there actually might be something
to this unhurried and unhindered me that we need to
be seeking daily.
I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity
of life and support the biblical definition of marriage
between a man and a woman. Vote for biblical values
this November 6, and pray with me that America will
remain one naon under God.The second, and of course most important blessing, isTHE blood-bought, precious freedom of our salvaon.
The rst freedom I menoned is what connects me with
my earthly cizenship. The second freedom is what
grace-privileges me with my heavenly cizenshipthe
everlasng kingdom cizenship that surpasses all earth-
ly realms. And the sovereign God who rules the ever-
lasng kingdom also is in complete charge of all tem-
poral earthly kingdomsincluding America. Everything
in the heavens and earth is Yours, O LordWe adore
You as being in control of everything (1 Chronicles
29:11). The LORD has established His throne in heaven,
and His sovereign rule is over all (Psalm 103:19). Break-
ing this down, David Jeremiah, in a recent arcle, elabo-
rates by reminding us from Scripture that Gods provi-
denal control is over world powers, over human histo-
ry, over current events, and nally over my life.
That certainly means that regardless of elecon out-
comes, Our God Reigns! Pastor T. DeWi Talmage once
said in a sermon, When omniscience has lost its eye-
sight, and omnipotence falls back impotent, and Jeho-
vah is driven from His throne, then the church of Jesus
Christ can aord to be despondent, but never unl
thenThe mighty men of the earth are only the dust of
the chariot wheels of Gods providence. Enough said.
Happy Thanksgiving!
ATTENTION
Please contact the church oce if the
birthdays and anniverseries are listed in-

The Awana leader team has grown and made adjust-ments to keep this ministry safe, fun and effective. Iam so thankful to be part of such an adaptable, dedi-cated team of leaders with a heart for sharing thegospel and ministering to families in our community.Serving in ministry has so much more to do with whatGod wants to do in our lives than it does with fillingholes in church programs. Serving helps us growspiritually in ways nothing else does. Please contin-ue to pray for each of these workers and the families
that join us each week.

Remember our Community Thanks-
giving Song Service last year??? A
service of praise and worship with
choirs from Powhatan, Trinity, Ever-
e Chapel, Amelia, and Bethes-
da??? Well, get ready..because
this year, we will welcome these churches and host the ser-
vice here in our own Bethesda Worship Center!!! The servicewill be held on Sunday evening, November 18th, beginning at
6:00 p.m. This is a service of worship through music led by
the adult and youth choirs from each church. A love oering
will be received for Clayton Area Ministry, and light refresh-
ments will be served in our fellowship hall following the ser-
vice.
Speaking of light refreshments..this is where I need your
help! We are asking each family to provide cookies, and the
choir will provide the beverages. Homemade cookies, store-
bought cookies, your favorite cookies!! Please bring your
cookies when you come to church Sunday morning, so we can
get things set up and ready for our evening.
This is a wonderful opportunity for praise, worship, and fel-
lowship with other believers in our Clayton community. Lets
roll out the Bethesda hospitality!!
We come into your presence with singing,
Come into your presence with praise; And enter your gates with thankful hearts,
We are going to celebrate!All of heavens waing, Power is on its way;
So, we shout Hallelujah!, Liing to youA mighty roar of praise!
Mark your calendars now to begin your Thanksgivingweek and holiday season with a joyful heart of praise!God Bless.

40/40 PRAYER VIGIL
We as a church are registered with many other churches in
our Southern Bapst Convenon and beyond to commit to
pray for our naon. We desperately need spiritual revival
in our churches and renewal in our naon.
Although we will encourage each member to choose the 40day opon, you may choose the 40 hour opon. You can pray once each day be-
tween September 26 (or start when you can) and November 4, or for 40 hours,
between 4:00 pm, November 2 and 8:00 am, November 4.
The important thing is that we pray! Prayer guides are available in the foyer.
