PRESIDENT’S JUNE MESSAGE Greetings Friends & Neighbors,

Several members of Movers have recommended that we invite the Lee Waterman Trio to be our entertainment in June. The Trio plays both popular and jazz music from The Great American Songbook (Sinatra, Gershwin, Ellington, Jobim, Cole Porter, etc. ). The Trio's instrumentation consists of acoustic bass, guitar, and tenor sax, producing a lush and lively sound. We hope that you enjoy them! I want to thank Lynne Libuha for volunteering to coordinate the bocce ball activities this year.

Sincerely,

Keith

P.S. If you missed picking up a “Directory of Aging and Adult Resources at our April dinner, you can pick up a copy at the Walnut Creek Senior Center or access it online at walnutcreekrec.org. Their phone number is (925) 943-5852. The directory was thoughtfully researched and published by the Walnut Creek Recreation Department,

MORAGA ART GALLERY

The Moraga Art Gallery's show “Into the Wood(s),” an homage to trees, continues until June 1st. It features watercolor landscapes by Moraga's George Ehrenhaft. His paintings capture the arborial splendor of Lamorinda and beyond -- from the Pacific shore to peaks of the Sierra. They soothe the spirit, satisfy the eye, and encourage viewers to look deeper. The show’s featured guest artist, Duke Herrero of Orinda, has created museum-quality wooden objects -- utensils, table-top boxes, footstools, cutting boards, and more — all hewn and lovingly shaped from a variety of trees from everyday walnut and cherry to exotic ipe and cocobolo. The show also includes work by one of the East Bay's most celebrated painters, Teresa Onoda, as well as ceramics, fused glass, jewelry, photos, and paintings by the gallery’s members and guest artists. The gallery, located in the Rheem Shopping Center, at 522 Center Street, Moraga. is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.moragaartgallery.com or call 925-376-5407.
