FIVE FABULOUS YEARSI’m sure that when you fi rst heard about WorldMark, you realised that this Club was your chance to make your dreams come true. You were not alone.
I am proud to say that over the past fi ve years we have been making dreams come true for over 26,000 owners just like yourself - singles and young couples seeking the adventure of a lifetime, retirees heading off on their well-deserved international holiday, and families fi nding quality time that had been missing in their lives.
For those who were there with us in 2000, I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s been an incredible time. Your choice of WorldMark locations started with Golden Beach, Fiji, Cairns and over 40 destinations across Canada, Mexico and the United States. Today we have 12 resort locations across Australia, Fiji and New Zealand (soon to be 13 - see page 6) and access to a further 57 destinations through WorldMark, The Club.
WorldMark South Pacifi c Club celebrates fi ve years in 2005, and on behalf of everyone who services your apartments, answers the telephones to take your bookings, and all of the other behind-the-scenes workers, I would like to thank you for being part of these fi ve fabulous years.
As we move forward, WorldMark continues to offer you new experiences, services and features. You’ll also discover a new world of exchange possibilities with the addition of RCI as an exchange partner (see news on page 4). RCI has a network of over 3,700 resorts in 100 countries around the world.
In this issue you will also read about your latest destination: WorldMark Lakes Entrance. And our ongoing committment to provide you with an exceptional variety of choices is highlighted with numerous Escapades, Club Tours and Travel Club offerings - including a fantastic selection of cruises!
As you may imagine, our original goal to meet the holiday needs of Club owners was certainly ambitious. But today, with resort locations across the South Pacifi c and North America, exchange opportunities through RCI and Interval International, escorted tours and events with Escapades and Club Tours, and the keys to international travel with Travel Club, WorldMark continues to help make your dreams come true.
I look forward to sharing the next fi ve years with you.

ABOVE AND BEYOND
When undertaking any job it’s easy to do what you have to and go home. However, when you fi nd individuals that happily go above and beyond because they want to, it reaffi rms your faith in human nature.
In recognition of the hard work and dedication of such resort employees, WorldMark is debuting the ‘Above and Beyond’ award for staff in our managed resorts. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ for going that extra mile. These people have demonstrated an amazing level of enthusiasm and exceptional service for owners, guests and fellow employees, making them worthy recipients of this accolade.
These winners receive a A$150 gift voucher, a special certifi cate and name badge and will have their photo displayed in the resort lobby. At the end of the year a grand winner will be selected from the quarterly winners, and they will receive a trip for two to the west coast of the USA.
If a WorldMark staff member has given you outstanding service, be sure to mention them on your comment card.
SHARE YOUR PASSION
Do you fi nd conversations with your family and friends regularly ends up about how much you love your Club?
Carla Calista was so intrigued at the vibrancy of the atmosphere when at a presentation that after she became an owner she decided to pursue a career as a Trendwest South Pacifi c sales executive.
Since starting fi ve years ago at Lutwyche, Carla has received numerous monthly achievement awards and trophies.
Although her background is in pharmacy, Carla sees the fact that she was an owner fi rst as a defi nite advantage when selling: “I love the fact that you get out what you put in. I love the program.”
For your opportunity to progress your career all you need is a passion for sales or customer service. For more information email [email protected] or telephone: +61 7 5557 5757 and ask for Human Resources.

INTRODUCING
Our continuing endeavour to add signifi cant value to your ownership has seen the introduction of a new exchange program. For the past fi ve years, WorldMark owners have experienced many wonderful holidays through Interval International (II). As of 24 June, 2005 new owners will be enrolled into the exchange program offered by RCI.
In addition to RCI being the world’s largest exchange company, Trendwest and RCI are both part of Cendant Corporation, the world’s largest holiday ownership organisation, one of the world’s largest hotel franchisors and one of the world’s largest car rental operators.
For our Club owners who are II members, the excellent service provided by both WorldMark and II in the past will continue unabated. Owner services and reservation staff are always just a phone call away.

WORLDMARK’S TASMANIAN DEBUT
After much planning and hard work Trendwest South Pacifi c has answered owner demand for a unique experience in Tasmania with the purchase of The Pines resort. The resort will be renamed WorldMark Seven Mile Beach, Hobart once the apartments have been refurbished to the standards expected by Club owners.
Only two minutes walk from the shores of the beautiful Frederick Henry Bay, the resort is just 20 minutes from Hobart and 10 minutes from the airport. Occupying 19 hectares, the resort currently features 20 stand-alone villas surrounded by woodlands. Further development plans include the transformation of this 22-year-old resort into an eco-tourism resort with new apartments once building approvals have been received.
Confi gurative changes will be made to offer a more open plan through an extensive use of glass to bring the outdoors in - however there will be more seclusion through the use of effective landscaping and aesthetic privacy
walls. Landscaping around the resort will include water features and walkways, utilising timber, rock
and stone to enhance the surrounding environment.
Anticipated on-site amenities include outdoor heated swimming pool, spa, sauna, children’s playground, games room, tennis and volleyball courts, and barbeque facilities.

LAKES ENTRANCE
You’re standing on a thin peninsula, inaccessible by car. On one side the waves of the ocean lap at white sand while behind you the calm waters of Lake Tyers, framed with trees and dunes, offer an amazing contrast.
This tranquil beauty is the essence of Lakes Entrance, a sleepy fi shing town that sits on the far side of the lake and the home of the latest addition to the WorldMark South Pacifi c family.
WorldMark Lakes Entrance resort features an outdoor and heated indoor pool, spa, tennis court, and barbeque and picnic areas. It has a mix of suites and one- and two-bedroom fully self-contained apartments, some with private balconies.
Your resort provides you with a gateway to the beautiful Gippsland Lakes and Wilderness, and is perfectly situated for a romantic getaway, scenic touring or a boating/fi shing holiday.
The incredibly scenic area features an intricate maze of freshwater lakes, saltwater lagoons and marshes and is home to an amazing array of fl ora and fauna. In fact it’s the southern hemisphere’s largest network of inland waterways.
See the sights while travelling on the incredibly blue water. Bring your own boat or hire anything from a paddleboat to catamaran to any of the range of larger vessels. Take an organised cruise or rent a multi-cabin and spend a night afl oat.
On the seafront, Ninety Mile Beach is one of Victoria’s most popular and famous beaches but the area offers a myriad of opportunities to get wet and while you’re splashing around keep an eye out for dolphin pods that sometimes frolic around the waterways in winter.
While you’re on the water you’ll be tempted to throw a line overboard as the area is the fi shing capital of Australia with over twenty species of fi sh just waiting to be caught. Whether you like sea or freshwater, from the beach or off a boat, fi shing is a year-round activity in this water-based community (see our fi shing tips).
Top 5 things you really must do at Lakes Entrance!• Ninety Mile Beach
• The Great Alpine Road
• Gippsland Lakes
• The Snowy River
• Lakes Entrance Golf Course
Bookings are already being taken for tor visit www.worldmarksouthpac
Once you’ve had enough of the region’s nautical delights, jump in the car and discover one of the great touring routes of Australia – the Great Alpine Road. Marvel at the splendour of snow-capped mountains, valleys, forests and rivers as you travel along 308 kilometres of fully sealed, all-weather roads. In the winter the region becomes one of Australia’s most beautiful and challenging ski fi elds.
If you’re just looking to relax there are sights galore. The promenade features a series of wooden sculptures depicting images of Australia at war. The Wyanga Park Vineyards and Winery has a scenic tasting room where you can enjoy the view with a nice drop of wine.
For something a little unusual make some time to visit the Griffi th’s Sea Shell Museum. In addition to having almost 100,000 shells, it also has the head of the largest marlin ever caught on display, rare corals and an aquarium that is home to sea snakes, blue-ringed octopi and various other strange and rare creatures.
The young and young at heart should visit the Lakes Go-Karts or one of the putt-putt golf courses in the region. Avid golfers would also enjoy the 18-hole Lakes Entrance Golf Course which runs alongside Ninety Mile Beach, or the 9-hole course which has views of the entire township.
You can trek through bushwalking tracks galore or the truly intrepid may enjoy exploring caves at Buchan with only helmet-mounted lights and a guide.
For the more adventure-minded, the Snowy River – such an integral part of Australian folklore – offers a wilder ride with white-water rafting, kayaking and canoeing as just some of its adrenalin activities.
Four hours east of Melbourne, Lakes Entrance offers everything you could wish for to kick back and leave the grind behind you.

The Mud Bath at Rotorua, New Zealand, Kia Ora!We have just spent a week at WorldMark Rotorua in New Zealand. What a great place for a
holiday. It was a pleasant end to our 3 weeks of driving around the South Island.
There are currently 10 WorldMark apartments at the modern Marama Resort at 1420 Hamurana
Road, Mourea, 18kms north east of Rotorua. It is just off Te Ngae Road (Route 30), past the
airport and far enough away from the wafting sulphur smells downtown. Yes, Rotorua is right
in the middle of the thermal area with steam and sulphurous gases and spectacular geysers
rising from the ground.
Upon arrival at Unit 18 (WorldMark Reception) we were welcomed by Jan, the very friendly and helpful
resident Resort Manager. She has lived at Rotorua for a number of years and is a mine of tourist information. One of her recommendations
was the mud bath at Waiora Spa at Hell’s Gate thermal area, just 10 minutes drive from the resort along the Whakatane Road (pronounced
“Far-kar-tar-nee” !).
What an experience Hell’s Gate turned out to be! First we walked around the area to view the steam pits, mud pools and sulphur lakes. Then
we went to the spa next to the entrance and plunged into the hot mud bath. We were told we could put the mud on our bodies but to keep
it away from the eyes, nose, mouth, ears and hair. The attendant monitored us every 10 minutes to see that we were still above the surface.
After 30 minutes it was cold (as in freezing!) shower time. We had to wash away all the mud and close the pores of our skin. Brrr! Then we
were escorted to the hot sulphur pools - two adjacent pools - one at 38 degrees, the other at 42. We chose the cooler one. The hotter pool
had a waterfall that provided some cool relief. 45 minutes was long enough for us, but we could have stayed in as long as we liked.
After lunch at the café (and feeding the resident peacock family) we lazily returned to the resort for a sleep. Our sheets smelt of sulphur for
3 days! But it was worth it. If we had had more time in Rotorua we would have done it all again.
On our last night we were invited to join Jan and partner Peter, for drinks and nibbles and view the magnifi cent sunset over Lake Rotorua.
(When you go, ask to see Peter’s collection of sunset photographs.) A very enjoyable evening.
We will defi nitely be returning to Rotorua.
