Lakemont LivingNEW DEVELOPMENT COMING TO THE KATY AREA…

Development of Katy Ranch Crossing is expected to occur in phases during the next five-plus years. It is designed to have 750,000 square feet of retail, medical, and restaurant space; 500 luxury apartment units; and a 150,000-square-foot office building. Construction is expected to begin the first quarter of 2012 on 200,000 square feet of retail space and 250 to 300 residential units. Katy Ranch Crossing is located at the southeast corner of I-10 and Katy-Fort Bend Road, between the Grand Parkway and Katy Mills Mall.

Kristina’s KornerHave a question about the community or surrounding area?

Ever wonder about new development or want opinions on good restaurants or entertainment venues in the area? Send your questions to [email protected] and I’ll do my best to find out the answers!

It’s true that you’re probably not the only one wondering about things in our area. The question this month has been posed to the Homeowner’s Association and Developer by several residents and I myself had the same thought.

Q: When is the extension of Bellaire Blvd going to be complete thru Lakemont providing access to Grand Mission Blvd and SH99?

A: Our developer, Friendswood Development, is not responsible for this connection so I posed the question to Precinct 3 County Commissioner Andy Meyers and here was his response:

“We are working with various property owners and developers to find funding for the extension of Bellaire Blvd. We hope to make the extension sometime in the next 3 years, as we have a large retail facility that should be open next fall that will generate a significant amount of funding.”

So, the short answer is be patient - the connection will happen but not overnight.

HOLIDAY EVENT A SUCCESS!

Even with the rain we couldn’t keep Santa from making a special appearance in Lakemont to take pictures and have cookies with our youngest residents. Thank you to all the volunteers and families that came out to support the event. The kids enjoyed decorating holiday cookies, listening to stories from Mrs. Claus and sitting on Santa’s lap for photos. Be sure to join us next year for another successful

holiday gathering! A Special Thanks to Victoria Bank for sponsoring the cookie

decorating table and making our holiday event fun for the kids!

LADIES CLUB YEAR END DINNERThe Ladies Club of Lakemont held their annual end of year
