HTF YEAR IN REVIEW

HTF’s goal is to inform and understand how various county resources might be best utilized to support the achievement of Historic Toxaway objectives. Represented on the boards of both the

Brevard/Transylvania and Cashiers Chambers of Commerce as well as the Transylvania County Tourism Development Authority.

Developing relationships with local officials to include: Transylvania County Manager, County Commission Chairman, County Sheriff, Superintendent of Schools, and Director of Parks and Recreation.

HTF spearheaded the organization of a coalition where area business leaders meet to network, plan, and collaborate in practical ways for a vibrant future and a successful business in the Historic Toxaway region. The Alliance, with more than 50 members, has hosted regular networking events. Funded by HTF, the Toxaway

Business Alliance sponsored a two-part practical workshop on Social Media Marketing which was attended by numerous local business owners.

Established the Historic Toxaway Guide, a monthly publication available in print and digital formats and includes a calendar of events, show-casing activities and special offerings, as well as a local business directory.

Launched Facebook and Instagram accounts: @PlayStayToxaway.

With a goal of keeping the existing community informed as well as attracting new businesses and people, HTF has utilized various communication mediums to showcase the region. Launched a revitalized website. Created and placed Historic

Toxaway signage at four strategic locations.

The Quill, HTF’s quarterly newsletter, was first published in 2019.

Continued social media presence on Facebook with close to 600 followers.

Facilitated WNC Magazine feature article on Toxaway/Upper Transylvania County in its May-June 2019 issue and placed a full-page advertisement.

Contributed to the Lifestyle Publishing map, distributed through-out Transylvania, Jackson, and Macon counties, which features the HTF feather outlining the Toxaway area.

Placed a full-page ad in the Visitor Guide for Cashiers, Glenville, Lake Toxaway, and Sapphire.

The Tessier Associates and Sitework Studios Historic Toxaway Planning Pro-ject report, completed in late 2018, has initiated the revitalization and area development effort. This is a multi-phase, professionally guided, visioning process. The findings are currently being discussed and debated by both the board and com-munity leaders to identify common goals, priorities, and determine the scope and sequence of this important work.

It is in memory of our beloved founder, Bill Minnich, that I share the highlights of the Historic Toxaway Foundation’s work to-date. Bill’s vision and passion for what the Foundation could accomplish continue to guide us daily and we are most grateful to have joined him in this journey. Starting a Foundation from scratch is hard but thanks to volunteer board members who have devoted countless hours and generous donors like you who have believed in our mission, we have made great strides since our founding in 2017.

BECAUSE OF YOU…

all facets of our broad and ambitious agenda have moved forward in visible ways. From the creation of a first-class website and complementary social media presence to a variety of HTF signage erected along the 64 corridor, we are communicating our message in both the virtual and physical world.

THANKS TO YOU…

we are bringing stakeholders together to support each other, learn, grow and help us further the work of our “storied community” through meetings with land owners, community members, and the establishment for our local business community of the Toxaway Business Alliance. Our cause is also getting attention from county leaders and local Chambers of Commerce evidenced by numerous meetings and the recent appointment of Foundation board members to leadership positions in both Transylvania and Jackson Counties.

YOUR GIFT HELPED…

to enable a start to a revitalization and area development effort, admittedly the most difficult and long-term goal, which has begun to take shape through a multi-phase, professionally guided, visioning process and subsequent report. The findings are currently being discussed, debated, and examined by both the board and community leaders to identify common goals and priorities, and determine the scope and sequence of these next steps.

YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT…

will help to continue this important work. We greatly appreciate the wide-spread support we have received. There is more to do and with a $100,000 fundraising goal, we ask for your continued in-volvement and generous support in 2019. Your gift is vitally important because it offers immediate resources that can help us preserve the past and prepare for the future.
