PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES

Friday, February 15th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, unless otherwise stated below.

Please Note: No classes will be held for students that day as well as Monday, Feb. 18th

Parent/Teacher Conference sign-up can be done online through Skyward Family Access. Conferences are optional, but are available by parent or teacher request. You may start signing up on Monday, January 28th. Please see below for step by step instructions. Online Scheduling: please follow these directions at your earliest convenience to schedule conferences with the teacher(s) of your child(ren).

1. Login into Skyward Family Access – The Skyward Link can be found on the Lake Country School website. 2. Using the tabbed headings on the left hand side of the screen, click on Teacher Conferences. 3. Your student(s) will have a tab to the right of their name entitled All Conferences. Please click on that tab. 4. Next click Select a Time. 5. Now you can view the open time slots the teacher has available. You may want to go back and view the open time

slots for any of your other children to coordinate times. When you are ready to choose a time slot, click Select and then Save.

6. You will receive a Teacher Conference Sign-up Confirmation email shortly after registering. 7. If you need to change your time, you will now be able to click Unschedule inside the Teacher Conferences tab.

Save and begin again. You can also include a note to your child’s teacher by clicking the Notes option on the right. Please call the school office if you have questions. 4K: Times available are from 8:00am to 1:00 pm. 5K: No online scheduling. The teachers will contact you with details. 5th thru 7th Grade: These are group conferences so when signing up use the grade level conference option instead of your homeroom teacher. Skyward only shows one of the homeroom teachers (not necessarily yours) attached to this option but all teachers will be meeting with you. You will be contacted by a teacher if a conference is being requested. 8th Grade: In lieu of conferences on February 15, eighth grade students will be presenting research-based projects to parents, fellow Lake Country School students, and community members on Tuesday, March 19, from 1:00 - 7:00 P.M. and Wednesday, March 20, from 11:30 - 3:00 P.M. As we get closer to the March presentation dates, a flexible schedule with multiple presentation choices will be emailed to you. Options will also be available if you are not able to attend. As always, feel free to contact us if you feel a conference is necessary.

Report cards will available in Skyward Family Access Thursday, Jan. 24th

DRESS FOR THE WEATHER Please make sure your child/ren have the appropriate outerwear for the weather. We try to get the kids out everyday if at all possible. INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURE The Fiscal Agent (Arrowhead High School) has the authority to cancel school for students in the morning on normal school days when inclement weather conditions exist. When the decision to cancel school is made, Arrowhead High School and its seven K-8 feeder schools will be closed for students. Transportation to parochial schools will be canceled as well.

It shall be the normal procedure to make the decision to cancel school, due to inclement weather conditions, prior to 5:15 a.m. An administrator will contact Skylert to begin the parent notification of school cancellations or delays.

If the decision is made to run buses on a late basis, the standard delay will be two hours (all bus pickups will be two hours later than normal).

The decision to cancel school on a district-wide basis, once students are present, will also be made by the fiscal agent.

The decision to cancel an individual school after the start of the school day is to be coordinated through the fiscal agent. This is necessary to coordinate the bus routes that use common buses.

In the event of any school closings, it is the sole responsibility of the fiscal agent to notify pre-selected media.

The Skylert system will work in the following way for a snow day/school-closing situation. When it has been determined that school will be canceled, the district administrator places a call to the Skylert network and records a brief message that school is closed due to weather or other emergency. After placing this call and leaving a message, the Skylert network goes into operation and calls every parent and staff’s home phone number (cell number if that is your home number) to relay this information. The Skylert system will begin calling as early as 5:30 a.m.

If there is an emergency that requires school to close mid-day, the Skylert network will call all home phones, work phones and cell phones that we have on record. In addition to that, the school staff will personally call parents of students in 4K thru 2nd grade who are only children and/or have siblings that are in 4K thru 2nd grade, in order to be sure that these young students are not going home to an empty house. BOYS & GIRLS VOLLEYBALL SIGNUP (GRADES 5-8) Deadline Friday!

The signup for volleyball is now open thru Skyward Family Access. You will need a parent login and password. Students do not have access to this page. Follow these directions:

After logging in to Skyward Family Access, click on Fee Management on the left side of screen Under your child’s name, click on Make a Payment Under your child’s name, next to Fee Management Payment, click on Update Payment Amount Under where it says “Fees that can be added to this student’s account”…

Find, Click on, and Add your child’s grade level volleyball fee Proceed to pay fee thru our vendor RevTrack or send a check to the school office with your child.

This year we are including a developmental program for 5th graders. There is no charge for 5th grade volleyball as there are no games or tournaments involved, however you will still need to sign up thru Skyward Family Access. Sign up will be open thru Friday, 1/25/19. The 1st week of practice is March 11th and the season ends with the girl’s tournament May 7-11th. Please call Nancy Kuehl at ext. 108 if you have questions.

Wildcat Clips deadline: Friday, February 1st. Although we make every effort to include late submissions, please know there is no guarantee. Please provide your Clips submission request to Lisa Acton. E-mail Lisa at [email protected] in a Word document. We reserve the right to edit and/or limit items submitted to fit our Clips format. All Clips submissions are subject to approval by Mark Lichte.

The Math Meet provides an opportunity to challenge talented math students. The event, patterned

after MathCounts, is sponsored by the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network. The one-day math meet seeks to do the following:

Stimulate interest in mathematics Recognize exceptional mathematical talent Provide a healthy academic environment Support the Wisconsin Model Academic Standards in Mathematics as well as the National Council of

Teachers of Mathematics Standards Math meet team members earned a place on the team via their performance on a math-screening test, standardized math achievement tests (i.e. Measures of Academic Progress, Forward Exam, Aspire) and/or classroom-based math assessments (i.e. Math Olympiads). Our students competed against teams with similar enrollment size from south central and southeast Wisconsin on January 15 at UW-Whitewater. Both our fifth and sixth grade team and our seventh and eighth grade teams won first place at the Regional Math Meet! Fifth & sixth grade team members include: Serena Ball, Evelyn Brandel, Caden McLaughlin, Will Schneidewent, Jason Brammeier, Emery Cummins-Brown, Gavin Dai, and Andrew Harshbarger.

Seventh & eighth grade team members are: Carter Delaruelle, Myles Diel, Ben Otte, Maxime Venon, Jada Henry, Nathan Klauck, Chance Wall, and Bennett Wentzel. Individual recognition, based on student performance in the first four Math Meet events, was earned by:

sixth grader Jason Brammeier - 1st place (gr. 6) sixth grader Gavin Dai - 2nd place (gr. 6) seventh grader Ben Otte - 1st place (gr. 7) eighth grader Nathan Klauck - 2nd place (gr. 8)

Both teams look forward to advancing to the Mega Math Meet in Madison at the end of May. Congratulations students on your fine problem solving efforts!
