I had a great time visiting Kinder this week and was able to read Huxley’s (my son) favourite book ‘Piranhas don’t eat Bananas’. I’m pretty sure they enjoyed the read as much as me. The book has a key message on being nice to each other and being respectful to differences of opinion. Next week, I’m excited to start conducting some of my interviews with students and staff. This is a part of my Appreciative Inquiry into our school. It will focus on what we do well and seeing why that works well and how it can be replicated in areas that might need improvement. I will then invite parents who wish to participate to provide your opinions on a positive change for our great school. I’m keen to hear from as many of you as possible so will look at offering forms of feedback that are easiest and most convenient for you. I thank those who attended the P&C meeting this week and it was good to meet some more of you. I encourage you to come to the P&C and be involved in it to support our school. It is a place that you can share ideas for the betterment of our students. If you have any concerns about your child please make an appointment to see your child’s teacher. If you wish for more clarification, it is important that you speak with their supervisor/year advisor as well. Most of these concerns can be resolved at this level. I also encourage you to discuss any information that might be of interest to the school, such as reports from various medical practitioners. These can be invaluable in helping teachers to meet your child’s individual needs. I’m a huge believer in keeping communication open and being authentic partners in your child’s education. It is once again exciting to see so many students wearing their uniform with pride, especially those new school hats! Thank you and have a wonderful restful weekend. Welcome to Kindergarten 2019! We look forward to sharing our year of learning with you and showing you our achievements along the way.

Kinder have been learning how to represent numbers in different ways this week. They looked at the number 2 and found items in the classroom to share with their peers.

Kinder have settled back into their L3 and Lake Maths routines. They have learnt how to rotate around the

classroom in numerical order and are becoming confident in being independent

learners.
