Term 2 -- Week 10
HOLIDAYS are nearly here!!! I think everybody – staff and students – all deserve a well earned break after a mammoth first half of 2019. One of the biggest highlights was undoubtedly OBSTACOOL – the inflatable fun land we had at LCCS on Wednesday. All students and some staff had an absolute ball climbing and jumping their way through the fun obstacles. It was fantastic for all students to be rewarded with this fun filled activity for their wonderful efforts throughout the term. Thank you to all the families who attended our parent / teacher interviews on Tuesday afternoon – it was a great success and provides us all with the opportunity to discuss and improve your child’s future efforts, results and wellbeing. Congratulations to Rebecca Van Dyk who was the Lucky Door Prize $50 H n M Butchery Voucher Winner in Secondary and Danielle Dean who was the Lucky Door Prize $50 H n M Butchery Voucher Winner in Primary. The whole school assembly on Thursday by Year 7 Fitzgerald and Kindergarten Forrest was also a sensational display of our student’s talents. It was also great to see so many students getting ‘Besties’ Certificates and to see our Athletics Carnival Age Champions receiving their trophies. Well done to all. It is with regret that we farewell Ms Andree Bellamy from our LCCS family this term. Ms Bellamy is a much loved teacher who always put her students first. She has been instrumental in reforming our Aboriginal Youth Leadership Group Dyirramalang and creating a cultural room for all students as well as designing and constructing the beginning of our Indigenous garden. Ms Bellamy has also been involved in several cultural excursions to Murrin Bridge, the Open Netball Team and the Griffith Theatre Excursion. Her enthusiasm and thirst for education will be sorely missed and we wish her all the best in the future.
Lastly we wish all students and staff a safe and restful holiday with their loved ones. Term 3 commences for staff on Monday 22nd July with a Staff Development Day. We look forward to students returning to school on Tuesday 23rd July for another fun and productive term of learning. Erin O’Neill Principal (relieving)

Performance notice We have the fabulous Meerkat Productions returning to our school week 1 next term. They are performing a brilliant production based on the picture book “Room on our Rock.” A clever story about accepting and helping others. The performance is on Thursday 25th July 2019 and the cost is $8.00 per child. There is no cost to students who have paid school fees. Lyn Ervin Book Week 2019 This year’s theme for Book Week is: Reading is My Secret Power We will be celebrating Book Week with a trivia afternoon, on Tuesday 20th August in Period 5 (this includes all students K – 6). Students will be placed in multi –age teams, and questions will come from a range of texts that students have been reading in class. We will be holding our Book Character Parade for infants and primary students on Thursday 22nd August in Period 5 (2pm). We would love it if all students could come to school on this day, dressed in a character costume (it would be great if it was based on the theme, but doesn’t have to be). All parents and community members are invited to attend and check out the students’ fabulous costumes. Following the Book Parade, everyone will be given the opportunity to purchase a book from our Book Fair, which is being hosted by Collins Booksellers, Griffith. Anne Sanson and Joclyn Newham

Collecting Plastic Lids Over the next two terms I will be working with students to make a small mural inspired by the pictures below. To do this we need to collect lots of plastic lids of all colours and sizes. I would love any plastic lids you would like to donate. I will have a collection tub at my room. Lyn Ervin

Under 16s Rugby League On Tuesday of week 9 the Under 16’s Rugby League team travelled to Dubbo to compete in the Central School Regional Championships. The boys played a total of five games throughout the day facing some tough opposition. The boys finished the day with only one win but gained a lot of valuable experience that they will take with them into next year. Stand out player for the day was Jack Little who lit up the field with his lightning speed. Jack scored a total of eight tries and two goals. Throughout the day each of the boys showed excellent sportsmanship and behaviour.
