Thank you to all of those who have already completed the
Parent/Caregiver Survey. If you have not had a chance to
complete the survey yet, please note that the online surveys
will remain open until Friday, 23 August 2019. This is your
opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does
well and how we can improve to help shape our school’s fu-
ture.
If you haven’t received any survey access details yet or if
your access details have been misplaced, please contact the
school office on (07) 3813 8555.
DANIEL MORCOMBE FOUNDATION VISIT
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation was established in honour
of Daniel Morcombe to make Australia a safer place for chil-
dren. It was founded by parents Bruce and Denise after their
son was abducted and murdered in December 2003 while
waiting to catch a bus on the Sunshine Coast. The aims of
the Foundation are to educate children and young people
about how to stay safe in physical and online environments
and to support young victims of crime.
It was a pleasure on Tuesday for the school to have a visit
from Bruce and Denise to share their valuable messages
about keeping kids safe. The students were given a number
of strategies to be able to keep themselves safe both in phys-
ical and online environments.
It would be great if parents/carers could ask their child/ren
about the presentation and allow them to share the infor-
mation with you.

DROPPING OFF YOUNGER STUDENTS Recently we have noticed that some of our Prep students have been dropped off at school in the morning and expected to walk into school on their own. For the safety of our students can I please ask that parents/carers of our younger students walk them into the school grounds of a morning or ensure that they are accompanied by a responsible older student.
INTERSCHOOL SPORT I would like to thank the staff and students of our school who are involved in Interschool Sport for the manner in which they conduct themselves at sport each week. I have received some very positive feed-back about the behaviour and positive attitude of our students. This reflects very positively on our school and those involved should be very proud of their efforts.
PHYSICAL MISCONDUCT I ask that families support us to ensure that children adopt a hands off approach to solving problems. Our message is constantly, “Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself”. We can also include disrespectful words and language in this as well. We are continually asking students to seek support from adults when they encounter problems with oth-er students, however in some cases they try and solve the problem themselves and resort to hitting or kicking others or using disrespectful language. This only compounds the problem for all those involved. Help us to ‘Raise the BARRS’ by promoting: Be an Active Learner Be Respectful Be Responsible Be Safe Your support in this is very much appreciated.

ITEMS TO SUPPORT FAMILIES AT BLAIR We are putting out a request to families, who may have children, who have out-grown items and have no other use for them. If you have a bike helmet that would be suitable for a YR 4 student we would be grateful if you could drop these off at the office to pass onto some of our students. We have received sev-eral donations of soccer boots to the school and aren’t in need of any more. We thank you for your donations.
NEW OR SECOND-HAND SHOE DONATIONS The school has had a local community member start up a program where by donations of new and used shoes are welcomed here at Blair State School. If you or anyone you know has good quality shoes that would be appropriate for school use - mainly runners or closed in shoes, we would be happy for you donate these to us and we can then pass them onto families in need.

Blair P&C has organised the Colour Fun Run again this year!
Everyone had an amazing time last year and together raised over $3000. Spon-sorship forms and money need to be returned to the P&C box (located in the office) no later than Friday, 13 September. All funds raised will go towards projects that the P&C are working towards, but the main aim of this event is to have fun and celebrate the end of Term 3. Whether you raise $5 or $500, your participation in this event is much appreci-ated. Those students sponsored will receive a Certificate of Participation along with their prize. They can choose prizes based on how much money they have raised but the prizes will not be given out until school resumes in Term 4. The student who raises the most money will receive a trophy. The Colour Fun Run Event will be held on Friday, 20 September after 2nd break. We encourage all students to wear a white shirt (cheap $2-$3 shirt) or old shirt. Families are welcome to come down and watch. All students whilst partici-pating will receive a wrist band and pair of sunglasses as well as an ice-block afterwards. If anyone can help out, supervise, setup, throw the colour or pack up, please call Krystal on 0423 423 705.
