There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals..

There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals in this video as Lady Gaga

is singing about paparazzi and through out there are clips which look as if a

camera is taking photos of her. Also there are several scenes that show

newspapers with her image printed on showing the paparazzi have got her.

She also says “follow you until you love me” which relates again to the

paparazzi as they are following her around constantly taking photos of her

and printing them in newspapers.

The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist and the artist may

develop motifs which recur across their work (a visual style)

Through out this music there are many close ups of Lady Gaga, this may

be to show expressions to help emphasize the story line of the video, but

mainly close up shots of the artist are used to show things such as

makeup and clothing, they are more like beauty shots as female artists

style and looks are usually the main selling point for them.

There is frequently reference to notion of looking and particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body

Lady Gaga is practically

wearing revealing clothing

through out the whole music

video, showing of her body

through short dresses and

tight cat suits.

In one section of the video she is

shown in a full black suit which is

straight away stripped of by the men

around her revealing a skimpy tight

costume underneath. This relates to

Goodwins point as the female body is

revealed hugely throughout showing

this is possibly a selling point also to

her audience.

There is a relationship between music and visuals

Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics

There are certain parts throughout the song where the song cuts and skips

almost, as this happens the images shown also cut and jump so they match the

timing of the music. Also as the speed of the music increases Lady Gaga is

shown dancing fast along with the music and moving in the same time as it. There

are parts of the song where the tone is quite low and dark when this happens the

colours of the video are duller and darker such as when the newspapers are

shown or when she is shown at the end being arrested.

The song as a whole is quite upbeat as the music is at a relatively fast

pace along with having high tones of Lady Gaga singing to make it

even more upbeat, this represents that the song it pop as it is upbeat

and all over a happy song. There are a lot of colours and fun

costumes shown through out which also emphasises the pop genre

as it is very upbeat and mostly positive to watch. In most pop videos

made by female artists there are a lot of beauty shots showing

makeup and different clothes as they are the main selling points which

occurs constantly through out this video.
