The Mountain Mushroom Festival Pageant was held Saturday, and the winners and runners-up are pictured above. A list of the winners is on Page 4. Hailey Richardson, center in blue cape, was named the overall Supreme Queen of the Mountain Mushroom Festival. The contestants brought in items for the homeless and the backpack ministry. Sierra Coomer, second left, back row, brought in the most items. Admission to the pageant raised funds for the high school FLO party.
Tierra and Sherry Murphy won the mother-daughter look alike contest at the Mt. Mushroom Pageant.
The Water of Life: Jesus was well attended on both Friday and Saturday nights. Those attending drove through the different scenes going from Jesus’ birth to the resurrection while listening to a CD. Below is the scene of Nicodemus talking to Jesus.
The candidates at the festival pageant were of all ages, from babies to college students. Each contestant received a trophy and a crown. The winners can ride in the parade of the Mt. Mushroom Festival.
The older contestants included a college student and two international students who are living in homes in Estill County during the school year and attending the local high school. They were named queen and princess in a category for international students.
