The roots of my Spiritual beliefs go back to my teens, when during a particularly bad week. I tried todo some meditation to calm my troubled soul. I was sitting cross legged on my bed at my parentshouse after a particularily bad argument. Trying to calm down and relax, when I felt the calminginfluence of a spirit. The experience, was so profound, not only did it calm me but I felt like I was notthere, as if I was out of my body for a few minutes. Over the intervening years, I have taken to

meditation to calm myself in times of stress, I also find it as a great aid to a restful night as I havedifficulty getting to sleep most nights. In the fall of 2008,I had the great pleasure of being invited to chat on line to a lovely lady by the nameof Faye Dupre. We had been introduced by a mutual friend Cathy Cotten on Facebook.Faye and I had been chatting on Facebook for about six months, before we decided to meet, so we hadgot to know each other very well. Faye lived in a lovely town called Lac La Biche, 2 hours drivenorth of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This was a major project we undertook, as she wanted to see me,we saved together for the 4 months it took us to get the air fares. The town is situated on a lake of the same name and was first located by Lieutenant David Thompsonfor the Hudson bay company. A statue to his memory stand on the shore line. The lake is linkedthrough a series of smaller lakes and rivers to the Hudson bay in the Arctic. It was on one suchexpeditiong that David Thompson located Portage, from which the local college gets its name.

When the time came to fly over, despite me telling friends that air flight was the safest way to travel. Iwas so scared. I had not eaten since about 8:30 the previous night and the plane did not leave Gatwick until 07:30, er various train links I arriived at the airport at 1:30 am, I now had six hours of pacing upand down to contend with and I could not eat or drink, I was so worried I would be sick.Desperate to calm my nerves, I tried every thing I could think of from mints to barley, nothing

worked until I tried Chinese Chi beads. The theory is that you put them on your wrists, with the beadon the inside, this puts a little pressure on the Chi point, the pressure will release the tension. Theycertainly worked for me as until I boarded the plane. I was still uncertain if I could go through withthe flight, this was the longest flight I had done. The only other flying time I had was to and fromRAF Aldergrove in Ireland. Which was just an up and over trip, at the most it took 1 hours. Now Iwas undertaking a nine hour flight to Edmonton, Alberta.

Faye was in her late sixties when we met, although we had a sixteen year age gap, we were so in love.I stood at the waiting desk, knowing I had to go through with it. If I dont go through with it, howcan I explain to her, that I could not fly, without having her think, I had just ditched her for the age
