Labour Cost for Roof RCC work Dear Guptha sir Query on Labour Cost for Roof:- I have hired a small contractor (labour contract on sq. ft/cu.ft) for centring works for my two storied house in mangalore. The Contractor has now completed RCC for second floor Roof. The contractor’s quotation for second floor roof RCC is Rs. 40.70 per sq. ft for 4 ½” thick , 10 ft height . The size of Roof is 41.50 ft x 38.20 ft(1585.30 sq.ft). The Centring Contractor has made roofing by having flat surface from bottom of slab and sloping on top surface of slab for easy flow of rain water. The centre of roof has thickness of 6”and sloped either side on top surface to end at 4 ½”. Do I have to pay extra labour cost to the centring contractor due to increase in thickness of roof slab since materials(cement, gravel , steel and sand) is supplied by me? Kindly advise Mon Sep 10, 2012 Post #1 S L Gupta (Civil Engg) Join date: Mar 2008 Dear Kamathak From the contents given by you, it is clear that the contract is for shuttering of the roof with 4.5'' thick cement concrete on it. Now as stated by you that contractor place 6'' cement concrete in centre. So he he place some concrete extra from the contract as per requirement of design or as per site condition So labor for placing the extra cement concrete is payable to the contract.

Dear Kamathak

There is no any standard because this is between you and contractor. But as per contents send by you your contractor has to do shuttering for 1585.30 sqfeet weather he lays 4.5'' or 6'' concrete. So he is not elegible for extra on account of shuttering, however he place some cement concrete mix extra approximately 70 cft  for which he is entiteled for taking extra labour for laying concrete at 2nd floor roof which is approximately from Rs 1000-00 to Rs 1500-00.for which he satisfy.

Post subject: Cost for construction

Dear Gubta,

I appreciate if you please let me know the construction cost of house per sq.ft. I am from Pakistan the prices of material is higher than india being the Pak rupee is week than indian rupee however if you let me know the formula of the construction material viz Sand, Cement, Iron Bar, Bajri so

Page 3: Labour Cost for Roof RCC Work

that I may calculate on the basis of your formula. The bricks price in Pakistan is Rs.4500/-(Pak Rupee) per 1000 bricks and cement bag of 20 kg is Rs.375 per bag and Iron bar is Rs.72000 per ton and Sand bowzer is Rs.12000 so If I make a house having 2000 sq.ft covered area what would be the cost of the house excluding paint and other work. The labour rate here in Pakistan for Mistri is Rs.600/-per day and labour Rs.400/-per day. Please advise me of the formula that I have requested for my further calculation.

Thanks and regards
