Tanzania Minerals Audit Agency (TMAA) is a semi-autonomous institution established under the Executive Agencies Act, Cap. 245. The Agency was established on 6th November, 2009.

The Agency has a modern laboratory which provides commercial services to mineral explorers, miners, mineral traders, buyers and exporters.

TMAA Laboratory receives different sorts of mineral ores, concentrates, bullions, rock and soil samples from individuals as well as corporate entities to ascertain mineral(s) content. The laboratory also provides identification and grading of diamonds and coloured gemstones. Why use TMAA Laboratory?

Report

Identification services will include testing to RI, SG,

visual spectroscopy, fluorescence and inclusions

on loose stones only. The report will state whether

the material is natural or synthetic. (Note: The

report will not identify whether an identifiable

treatment has been used to enhance its appear-

ance, if the material is a simulant with no known

counterpart, or if it has been assembled from two

or more separate components).
