Common Supplies Challenges• Increase in printhead failure rate, causing downtime. Label facestock with a rough surface causes additional wear and tear on printheads. • Print-quality issues. Pre-printed color inks on the label that are not thermal compatible can build up on the printhead. • New technologies. New direct thermal printable material meets durability of traditional thermal transfer application, eliminating the need to use a ribbon, saving ribbon loading time and the need to inventory ribbons. • The use of multiple color label rolls which have to be inventoried and swapped out of the printer as needed. Several color labels were combined onto one using Zebra’s innovative IQ Color labeling solution. • Customer had high employee turnover and soft costs associated with shipping product to the wrong store. By leveraging color as a visual cue, sorters could quickly identify the package and place it on the right skid. They could also do a quick glance at the pallet when full to see if there was a wrong color on the pallet. • Non-optimzed labeling process Consolidated several labels into a label set to fit business process, reducing the number of skus, time printing and applying labels.
