Lab 9 Introduction

• Do you read effectively and efficiently? In university, much of your learning takes place through readings you do on your own. Learning how to regulate your reading is key to being successful since it allows you to retain the right kinds of information.

• In lecture we talked about what to do before, during, and after reading. This week's lab will help walk you through this process in one of your readings this week

• You must have a university reading with you in order to do this lab.

Text Structure Activity

• Learn to Recognize Text Structures– Recognizing common info

structures in your text helps you to read strategically

– This activity asks you to identify the structure in some examples textbook excerpts.

• Quiz 4 in lab– Any attempts to complete the quiz outside of lab results in automatic

failure– All attempts are time stamped and logged

• Your instructor will provide you with instructions about how to access the quiz in lab
