Workshop participants will experience how Clean Language develops the unique epistemology of each client. Epistemology asks the question, "How do you know what you know"? Through the system of Clean Questions, corresponding metaphors emerge, acting as custodians of experiences, permitting the therapist to work in a way that best suits the client and affords the client the ability to work without being re-traumatized. The information is developed without contaminating with additional data subsequently acquired to the traumatic events. The integrity of the original event is therefore preserved allowing a more congruent resolution to occur. The late David Grove and Cei developed these principles that utilize primary process language to address a broad spectrum of issues. Cei will introduce the Theoretical Foundation of Clean Language and Epistemological Metaphors that access the deep structure of the client's experience, often imperceptible or missed in conventional sessions. Saturday and Sunday will define the clinical implications for using Clean Language, explain how to differentiate between Clean Language and other conventional therapeutic language modalities, describe the foundations of Clean Language and how the traumatic narrative is stored. Cei will outline the anatomy of Clean Language questions and Epistemological Metaphors, where in time and space a client’s traumatic experience is stored, why some symptoms appear intractable when other events have little or no impact, aspects of dissociation and fragmentation, and more. Monday will be a personal journey day that will be experiential and is designed to develop the participant’s skill base, acumen, and understanding of this technique. (All three days are required for attendance at the Master Class on Thursday, August 27; Fee for all four days is $850 if paid after August 1 and $680 if paid before August 1). Cei Davies Linn’s partnership with David Grove, inventor of innovations such as Clean Language and Epistemological Metaphors, spanned three decades, and they worked together on the evolution and development of their innovative work. Together they conducted workshops and retreats that included travelling to the four corners of the earth. Their collaboration also resulted in a series of training materials for professional counsellors. Later, on the recommendation of R.D.Laing with whom they occasionally co-presented, David and Cei also ran a retreat and seminar centre for ten years in Eldon, Missouri. Previously Cei has been a registered nursing sister and went on to hold the post of Senior Psychotherapist at St Andrew’s Hospital, Northampton. She currently lives in Northamptonshire where she works clinically and writes. She continues her travels and lectures peripatetically.
