But Mr Mandela’s body will not be at the memorial serv- ice to be held in Johannes- burg’s FNB Stadium today, in an apparent attempt to cool emotions from spilling over. With 53 world leaders arriv- ing for the stadium event, De- fence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said Johann- esburg was heading into lock- down in an effort to protect them. ‘‘We are rolling out a plan which has been in place for the past three or four years,’’ he said. Among the dignitaries at- tending are Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, Brit- ish PM David Cameron, US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, and all liv- ing former presidents — ex- cept George H.W. Bush. Celebrity guests will in- clude U2 singer Bono, chat show queen Oprah Winfrey and billionaire Richard Bran- son. It has not been an- nounced whether a member of the British royal family will attend, but Prince Char- les will attend the private fu- neral on Sunday. One notable absentee will be the Dalai Lama, who has been twice been refused a visa for South Africa in re- cent years because of appar- ent fears in Pretoria that it would offend China. Police said about 400 people were involved in the rare out- break of public disorder for Singapore, adding that 27 South Asian workers had been arrested on charges of rioting, which is punishable by up to seven years in prison as well as caning. Deadly inferno AT LEAST four people were killed when a commuter train collided with a fuel truck near the Indonesian capital Jakar- ta, derailing a women-only carriage which burst into flames, officials said. An AFP correspondent saw six people being taken to hospital in ambulances. Both the carriage and tan- ker were flipped on their sides and on fire, giving off thick plumes of black smoke. Transport ministry spokes- man Bambang Ervan con- firmed four people, including the train driver, were killed. ‘‘Other than the driver, we have not yet identified the victims,’’ he said. The train company estim- ated that around 600 passen- gers were on the train when it collided with the truck on the southeast fringe of the capi- tal, but most were evacuated. A train company official said the truck accelerated and drove onto the tracks as the traffic safety boom gate was coming down. It collided with the first carriage which was for women only.
