Well done to our 59 aerobics participants who attended the
State Championships at Geelong on Saturday. The support
offered by the Launch community is outstanding, including
transportation and helping with hair. Our teams did
exceptionally well with great results in the following categories:
Wild Card: Danger Boys - 1st; Furious Five - 1st; Mad Donnas - 2nd; Super Sparks - 3rd;
Future Legends: Disco Divas - Silver; Danger Boys - Bronze; Primary Littlies: Pink War-
riors - Gold; Midnight Angels - Bronze; Primary Aerobics: Extreme Force - 4th;
Primary All Boys: Kryptonite - 1st; Furious Five - 4th
Disco Divas, Kryptonite and Pink Warriors have all qualified for the National
Championships, being held on the Gold Coast on August 5th.
The high level of enthusiasm, dedication and expertise of all our aerobics teams is
truly amazing. Thank you to Miss Nyman, Miss Mackie and Mrs Kemp
for their great coaching, passion and organisation. You have all worked
extremely hard to provide the students at Launch with the opportunity
to participate in such a worthwhile program.
Japanese Master Class - Momotaro Play On Monday the Japanese master class performed a Japanese play called Momotaro for the Preps and Grades 1/2. We rehearsed and practiced for a term. We inter-viewed some of the preps and 1/2’s to get their opinion of the play. Robert, Shayla and Myah from Prep T : “There was an old man and lady. They found a peach with a baby inside. They took him home and looked after him. When he turned 10 he went to fight the bad people”. Mia and Maliki from 2R: “We liked the costumes and the back-drops. It was cool when they journeyed to the Oni kingdom and fought them to protect the town”. Everyone thought it was really cool and we all really enjoyed it. By Alyssa and Erin

School Captain’s Report
Prep: In CAFÉ this week, we are learning to retell a story in sequence. We are
learning about the letter “r” and our words of the week are “red” “ride” and
“rode”. In writing we are learning to include when an event took place. In Maths
we are learning about true and false statements.
1/2: In writing we have explored the poetry doors to get ideas for our poems. In Maths we have been working
hard in subtraction groups. We made bread as part of our integrated studies and it tasted delicious!
3/4: in reading we looked at cause and effect. In writing we have started our informative writing unit. We are
going to write an information piece about an animal. In maths we have been working on division and angles. In IS
we made bridges out of straws.
5/6: This week has seen grade 5/6 students asking questions about reading, working on narrative style persua-
sives and building 3D cities to investigate volume. We have been working hard learning about time in our maths
groups and some of us have begun our investigations on animal adaptations. We loved trying new sports at our
Aussie sports day.
Keeping Warm in Winter Over the past few weeks we have certainly seen a change in the weather with much cooler days and freezing mornings. Can you please ensure your child has a named school windcheater for school. A number of children are arriving without a school windcheater. The problem is made more difficult when the children leave warm classrooms and go out to play in cold, windy conditions without something warm to put on. Thank you for your help in ensuring we keep our kids warm.

Student Reports
Currently our staff are working on students reports. We utilise a range of information and
data to make decisions on these reports, including the portfolio tasks students have been
completing. A great deal of time and effort goes into putting these documents together
to inform parents of the great achievements of our students, as well as future learning.
Reports will be going home on Thursday 22nd June with Parent Teacher Interviews held
on Monday 26th June. Each student will bring home a copy of their report on the 22nd,
together with their portfolio. If there are any families who would like an additional copy
of the report to be distributed to either parent, please inform the office so that arrangements can be made. In
these circumstances, we send home one copy with the student, and another would be either sent in the mail or
picked up from the office by a parent.
