CAREER HISTORY/ WORK EXPERIENCE

The project that I represented Axsys in was a joint venture with Stefanutti Stocks Marine in Maydon Wharf, Durban. We were responsible for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the berths 1-4 and 12-14. During my time on this project I was responsible for numerous operations.

Calculating quantities for Sealand Marine yard. Supervising the construction of the Sealand Marine yard. Carrying out slump tests on concrete received. Setting out points using a total station where the Sealand Marine wall is to be constructed, checking the

position of the pile guide frame from the design co-ordinates and setting out points to survey the anchor piles using the as-built co-ordinates of the king piles.

Inspecting storm water pipes to ensure they are intact and not cracked.

Working with a dumpy level providing the correct levels for each course of g2 laid, gradient of concrete slab on which slotted drain is to be laid, level of the king pile frame at each setup and the correct level of each king and sheet pile once its driven.

Fixed steel reinforcement and did compaction tests on the various layers of sand and stone using the truxler machine.

Monitored plant hours and recorded them for monthly costing.

Handling of cubes and assembling cube moulds.

Compiling drawing files for the entire project.

Handling of daily diaries and plant returns.

Quality control of king piles, fender chains, crane beam bolts, scour rock and rip rap.

Monitoring the vibrations of the ground due to the driving of the king piles.

Supervising the extraction of timber piles.

Using the Trimble Machine to survey the rigs alignment in accordance with the appropriate king pile.
