KVK BAGS 3 rd PRIZE IN "AGROTECH 2017" OF DR PDKV AKOLA Hon.VC Along with other dignitories Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth was organizedAgrotech 2017 a State Level Agriculture Exhibition atUniversity Sports Ground, Akola during 27-29 Dec. 2017 in joint collaboration with State Department of agriculture. Hon.Agricuture Minister Shri Pandurang Fundkar inaugurated theexhibitionon 27th Dec. 2017. The objectives of the exhibition were to demonstrate new agriculture technologies, interact with farmers to resolve their issues of farming practices, safe use of pesticides and soil health management. Besides various stalls of University and Research Stations near about 250 stalls of other institute like KVK, SHGs and innovative farmers were arranged at exhibition site. In the KVK stall live demonstrations with technical know how about KADAKNATH and GIRIRAJ Poultry birds, fish farming model, azola culture production technology,energy saving devices like sarai cooker and zero energy cool chamber and soft drink taste of ambadi juice in KVK stalls attracted mostly in big size. Apart from this lwomen friendly farm implements, oraganicfarming practices, silage bag for green fodder, various swamini branded food item and expert guidance to visiting farmerswere encouraged to seek information in the KVK stall. KVK Promoted SHGs of village Linga Kotwal, Kamaji and Dhodapvillage has also arranged separate stall for sale of their produce. In the concluding ceremony of the event KVK Washirn stall bags 3rd prize and honoured with the auspicious hands of Ex-Vice Chancellor MPKV Rahuri Dr. S.N.Puri. Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. Vilas Bhale was presided over the function. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. R.L.Kale (Sr. scientist cum Head KVK Washim). All KVK experts and representatives of various Private companies also participated in the Programme. Dr. R. L. Kale in his inaugural speech urged the participants to adopt the technology given by experts in the training and work for its further horizontal spread. The folder on safe and scientific use of pesticide was released by the Chief guest during the occasion. In the technical session Mr. R.S. Daware (SMS Plant protection) focussed on basic concept of pesticide, classification, its toxicity, thumb rule of safe use while handling, storage, transport of pesticide, Label claim concept and ideal spraying technique etc. Mr. T.S. Smt. Harshadatai Deshmukh addressing in the programmeWorld Soil Day was celebrated on 5th December,

2017 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Karda District Washim withthe theme of "Caring for the Planet starts from the ground".jointly with State Department of Agriculture and the KVKThe mainly aim were to spread the awareness messages onthe importance ofsoil quality for food, nutritional security,human well-being and healthy eco system.

The event was graced by President, Zillah Parishad,Washim Mrs. Harshdatai Deshmukh, District SAO,Agriculture Department, Project Director ATMA Mr.Dattatray Gawsane, Dr.D.L.Jadhao, Dr.PDKV UniversitySoil Scientist Dr.S.D.Jadhav, Sub Divisional Agri1. OfficerDr.Murlidhar Ingle, District Soil Survey and TestingOfficer Milind Wankhede, Head KVK and progressivefanners. Programme started with ICAR song followed byworld soil day pledge and video show on message of Hon.Prime minister and Hon. Agriculture Minister aboutimportance of world soil day.

In the presidential address Mrs. HarshadataiDeshmukh highlighted the importance of healthy soil forhuman health and stressed upon judicious use of chemicalfertilizers. She also felt the need of giving more seriousattention on protection of soil, which leads to healthy life.

Dr. Kale after welcoming guests in his introductoryremarks apprised about the origin of world soil day and itsimportance in the present context. Meanwhile soil healthcard were distributed to beneficiaries and findings of soilanalysis report was explained to the fanners during theprogramme. Dr.S.D.Jadhav in his address focused on soilfertility status of Washim district and suggested thatorganic carbon, micro nutrient like zinc and Iron are founddeficient in the soi 1.He further

TRAINING ON RESERVOIR FISHERY MANAGEMENT

To tap the availableresources and to impart advanced technologies of fishculture in reservoir, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Washimwas conducted three days training programme on "Reservoir Fishery Management" during 28-30 Nov.2017 incollaboration with State Fisheries Department Washimwhich was sponsored by National Fisheries DevelopmentBoard Q-IFDB), Hyderabad.

The programme was inaugurated by Head and Sr.Scientist Dr. R. L. Kale and Chaired by Mr. SubashSukhdeve, Asst. Commissioner of Fisheries, Washim. Otherdignitaries on the dies were D.R.Khope, Assist. FisheriesDevelopment officer, Washim and Mr. R.S.Daware, SMS,KVK. In the inaugural session Dr. R.L.Kale briefed theobjectives of the training programme and explained -thescope offish culture in Washim District. Mr. S.N. Sukhdeveappealed trainees to take the benefit of facilities available atKVK for fish culture on a scientific line in reservoir. Hehighlighted the various schemes of state Government as wellas NEDB, Hyderabad. Mr. D.R.Khope who voiced hisappreciation for the joint efforts by the State Fisheries andKVK for organizing such training on the important topic ofreservoir fishery to increase the productivity of reservoir.An exposure visit was also organized at aquaculturedemonstration unit at KVK campus for the demonstration ontypes of species for culture, fish feed types, managementpractices, role of fertilizers in aquaculture, role of dissolvedoxygen, Types of Aquatic weed and their role in fish farmingwere explained. Importance of natural and artificial feedswas also discussed in detailed. During the training VideoCDs on various aquaculture topics were shown toparticipants. The valedictory Function was organized on30th November at KVK campus where certificates weredistributed to the participants. Total 50 fanners from WashimDistrict participated in training programme.

Global Conference on Climate ChangeImpact of climate change and its adverse effect on agriculturesector is witnessed by entire farming community since last 5-6years period in the district. At the same time, fanners are alsoinnovating different means and ways to cope up such adversitieson farming, livestock and other enterprises. On this context"International Conference on Global Climate Change and itsimpact on Agriculture and Water Sector" was held at WALMI,Aurangabad during 14-16 Dec.20 17. In this conference KrishiVigyan Kendra, Washim identified innovative farmer Shri.Ashish Rambhau Kadu from village Jaulka (Railway) ofMalegaon tahsil has shared his farm level experiences andinnovations in terms of combating drought and dry spellsituations in agriculture. Mr. Kadu in the very important technicalsession on climate change-farm led innovation on 15th Dec.20 17at 5.00pm shared his experiences and innovations on low costgoat farm shed, indigenously designed poultry hatchery and ecofriendly heat insulating device suitable for terrace farming. In hispresentation he underlined that his innovation are recognized byDepartment of Energy Studies Pune University and SantGajanan Maharaj Engineering College Shegaon which arehelpful in reducing farm level stress situation. Dr.C.D.Mayee,Ex.Chairman, ASRB chaired the session while Dr.Lakhan SinghDirector ATARI Pune co-chaired the session. Innovative farmerfrom entire Maharashtra State shared their innovation in thissessions. KVK Programme Coordinator, Universities Scientistand other official were present during the occasion.

Mr.S.K.Deshmukh addressing in the field dayNowadays found highly susceptible to wilt and

sterility mosaic disease problems in pigeon pea in thedistrict. Hence, the KYK. conducted cluster front linedemonstrations in pigeon pea with varietal trial of PKV-TARA cultivar in village Pimpri Sarhaddh of RisodTahsil. A Pigeon pea Field Day was organised on 16thDec.20 17 to overcome the problem of ruling, older andlatematuring varieties of pigeon pea.

Sarpanch of the village Mrs. Ushatai B.Deshmukhpresided over the function. KYK. experts and staff fromAgriculture Department Shri. S.V.Pande, Shri.L.R.Mehtregraced the occasion. After welcoming the guestS.K.Deshmukh in his introductory remarks highlightedand shared the major problem and gaps in adoption ofpigeon pea production technology. SMS AgronomyT.S.Deshmukh in his address guided farmers on advancesin pigeon pea production technologies focusing majorpractices like integrated nutrient and pest management,crop diversification, performance of various pigeon peacultivar and focused on varieties suitable for mechanicalharvesting. He solved all the queries raised by the farmersduring the interaction session. In field visit scientist andfarmers visited field demonstration of SwapnilDeshmukh, Bhaurao Deshmukh, Shri.Ingle andinteracted on performance ofPKV TARA demonstration.Farmers expressed satisfaction as variety found moreyielding, and resistance to wilt and sterility mosaicdiseases and assured that duriiig next season they will usethis variety for cultivation. Farmers from Pimpri, Kuksa,Anchal, Dongaon, Aregaon and Madani attended theprogramme in large number. Mr.T.S.Deshmukhconducted the proceeding while Mr.L.R.Mehtre offeredvote of thanks.

R.S.Daware visiting Bt Cotton fieldAs the serveral complaints of severe infestation of PinkBollworm in Bt Cotton were received by SAO of Washimdistrict during November 2017. As per the directives ofGovt. of Maharashtra to each Taluka Agriculture Officerin the district have to survey the cotton field along with anexperts available in the district. Hence Mr. R.S.Daware,Entomologist of KVK Karda visited to Bt cotton field invi Ilage Balkhed, Wakad and Eklaspur in Risod Tahasil on27th November, 2017 along with T A 0 Risod Shri R.H.Tambile. During the visit severe infestation of pinkbollworm was observed in Bt cotton field by Mr R.S.Daware and guided the farmers on identification ofinfestation of pink bollworm, method of survey andIntegrated pest management. Further he suggested foravoiding future outbreak of cotton next season. The farmerparticipated in the field visit were included mainlyMr.Vilas Dyanba Gaikwad, Raman Ransingir Gosai,Mathurabai Rambhau Gaikwad, Pundlik NimbajiGandhile.
