WordEdit is a user-friendly XML authoring/editing tool implemented as an add-on to Microsoft Word®.

• Input from any document• Produces an XML file based on any Document Type Definition (DTD).• Combines the power of Microsoft Word® with custom macros and dialogs

to enable quick and efficient conversion of any document into XML.• It was designed for users with little or no knowledge of XML, to be used in a

multi-DTD production-level environment.• Although suitable for users with little knowledge of XML, the basic concepts of

the language become clear as the user becomes familiar with the system.• With the aid of WordEdit’s macros, the user applies the Style into the Word

document; for the more complex sections, such as Bibliographies, this Style selection process is automated.

• Only Styling is required for objects such as Tables, Lists, Equations, Formatting, etc.; Equations are created using Design Science’s ‘wysiwyg’ equation editor MathType® and XML generated using MathType’s built-in conversion utility.

• WordEdit generates a fully structured XML file, based on any DTD, by interpreting embedded Word formatting and structures.

• The key to WordEdit’s ease of use is that all documents, regardless of the target DTD, can be Styled in virtually the same way.
