Jean Frédéric Dufour, PDG de Zenith est présent pour ce dîner organisé dans notre boutique londonienne en l’honneur de la manufacture qu’il préside. Une poignée de clients est là pour découvrir les nouveautés en avant-première. L’un d’eux, un Russe habitant la capitale anglaise prend la parole et commence à raconter ses premières visites chez Kronometry 1999. D’abord Paris, puis Londres dès l’ouverture. Anecdotes et impressions défilent quand soudain arrive la conclusion : « …Entrer dans un magasin Kronometry 1999 est une véritable expérience… » et pour étayer ce mot, choix, accueil, connaissances sont passés en revue. Assis en face de cet homme que je n’avais encore jamais rencontré, je ne peux dissimuler ma grande joie devant ce récit et ce mot si spontané « expérience » qui résonne encore dans ma tête et qui est l’aboutissement de 12 années d’acharnement.Ce moment privilégié restera gravé et est un formidable booster pour préparer l’été. Car cette saison estivale est remplie de promesses et nous avons donc tout mis en œuvre pour être à la hauteur de vos attentes. In this issue, you will discover a sample of these preparations with two majorevents : the grand Kronometry 1999 evening to be held on July 29th in the magnificent Côté Sable hotel on Cap Ferret, and the exhibition of «Haute Joaillerie» Timepieces signed Harry Winston, to be staged in Cannes throughout the summer.

We are also revealing the Hublot 2011 limited edition exclusively created for Kronometry 1999, and the Tutti Frutti collection in summery colors.

Finally, you will discover a new and very feminine collection from Bedat Genève, for whom we are sole representatives in France. Almost a return to the source, as we nearly represented this brand back in… 1999.

Corum is also making its appearance in our showcases, something I’m really delighted about, as I sold these timepieces for several years before setting up Kronometry 1999.

I would like to take advantage of this issue to thank you for all the testimonials and compliments we received on the release of Volume 5. For me, this has been the most meaningful reward for this mammoth task.

Le célèbre Joaillier Horloger investit tout l’été notre

boutique cannoise. Celle-ci sera entièrement décorée aux

couleurs de la marque pour y accueillir une exposition

unique des plus beaux garde-temps. Pièces de Haute

Horlogerie et Haute Joaillerie se côtoieront ainsi dans

nos vitrines.

Hublot et le Polo

Le 7 juillet dernier à Saint Tropez, le célèbre joueur argentin de Polo, Facundo Pieres, s’est rendu dans notre boutique Hublot, Place de la Garonne, pour une séance de dédicaces.

The famous jeweller-watchmaker will be taking over our

boutique in Cannes throughout the summer. It will entirely

redecorated in the Harry Winston colors to host a unique

exhibition of these most exquisite timepieces. Pieces of

«Haute Horlogerie» and «Haute Joaillerie» will thus be

on display in our showcases.

Hublot and Polo

On July 7th, in Saint Tropez, the famous Argentinian polo-player, Facundo Pieres, paid a visit to our Hublot boutique on Place de la Garonne, for a session of signings for delighted fans.

RM 027 - Only Watch 2011

Le 22 septembre prochain se tiendra à Monaco la 4ème édition d’Only Watch, célèbre vente aux enchères organisée tous les 2 ans en marge du Monaco Yacht initiée par Luc Pettavino, Président de l’Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, dont l’intégralité des bénéfices est reversée à la recherche contre la Myopathie de Duchenne. Pour cet événement caritatif qui propose aux collectionneurs des pièces uniques dotées des concepts horlogers les plus avancés, Richard Mille a choisi de faire don d’une pièce emblématique : la RM 027 tourbillon de Rafael Nadal que le célèbre joueur de tennis porte lors de tous ses matchs depuis 2010 et avec laquelle il a notamment gagné le tournoi de Monte Carlo 2011. C’est le Numéro 1 mondial en personne qui l’a symboliquement remise à Paul, le fils de Luc Pettavino, à la fin du tournoi en avril dernier. Dotée d’un tourbillon à remontage manuel développé pour et avec Rafael Nadal, cette RM 027 est le prototype ayant servi aux ultimes phases de tests, tests passés avec succès puisque le mécanisme s’est montré infaillible lors de tous les matchs joués et remportés par Rafael Nadal avec cette montre au poignet. RM 027 - Only Watch 2011

On September 22nd, Monaco will host the 4th edition of Only Watch,

a famous auction held every two years in the wings of the Monaco

Yacht Show and initiated by Luc Pettavino, President of Monaco’s

Muscular Dystrophy Association. All the funds collected are handed

over for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. For this

charity event offering collectors unique pieces based on the most

advanced concepts, Richard Mille has chosen to donate a signature

piece : the Rafael Nadal RM 027 Tourbillon, worn by the illustrious

tennisman in all his matches since 2010, and with which he won the

Monte-Carlo tournament 2011. It was, in fact, the world’s N°1 player

in person who symbolically handed the watch to Luc Pettavino’s

son Paul at the end of the tournament in April. With a hand-wound

tourbillon developed for and with Rafael Nadal, this RM 027 is

the prototype used for the final testing phases, tests successfully

passed, as the mechanism proved infallible in every match played

and won by Rafael Nadal with the watch on his wrist. Weighing only

20 grams (including the strap), the RM 027 is considered one of the

lightest watches on the market and a superb technical achievement.

La manufacture de Genthod démontre son savoir-faire en matière de montres joaillières avec ce modèle unique conçu et pensé pour les inconditionnelles de diamants. Les maîtres joailliers ont serti le boîtier curvex en or blanc 18k de diamants spécifiquement taillés pour épouser parfaitement sa forme. Le cadran n’échappe pas à ce traitement et se voit paré de diamants, eux aussi taillés spécialement… Un par un! Seules les aiguilles viennent déchirer cette mer de diamants pour laquelle plus de treize carats de pierres auront été nécessaires. Concept Watch N° 3 : X-Watch

A key player in the Only Watch auction since its inception in 2005, DeWitt has donated an outstanding watch to each edition, specially designed and produced for the occasion. This was the case in 2007 with the WX-1 Project, sold for 400,000 € from a simple synthesized computer image, something totally unprecedented ! For its participation in 2011, DeWitt is re-launching its contemporary avant-garde Concept Watch collection and unveiling its third chapter : the X-Watch. spéciale et en série limitée pour le Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge.

Pour cette 7ème édition, la manufacture a créé la Luminor

Submersible 1950 Regatta 3 Days GMT Automatic Titanio – 47 mm,

une montre de plongée professionnelle étanche jusqu’à 300 mètres

dotée d’une lunette tournante avec échelle graduée pour calculer

les temps d’immersion et d’une aiguille indiquant le second fuseau

horaire. Le mouvement qui anime ce garde-temps limité à 500

exemplaires dispose de la fonction de réglage rapide de l’heure

locale et de la fonction « Seconds Reset » qui stoppe le balancier

et remet à zéro l’aiguille des secondes pour synchroniser la montre

avec un signal horaire de référence. Doté d’une réserve de marche

de 3 jours dont l’indicateur en arc de cercle est visible sur le fond,

le mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique est enfermé

Each year, the Officine Panerai produces a watch in a special limited

edition for the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. For this 7th edition,

it has created the Luminor Submersible 1950 Regatta 3 Days GMT

Automatic Titanio - 47 mm, a professional diver’s watch water-

resistant to 300 meters, featuring a rotating bezel with graduated

scale to calculate immersion time and a marker indicating the

second time zone. The movement which powers this model limited

to 500 pieces disposes of a function for rapid adjustment of local

time and a «Seconds Reset» function that stops the balance wheel

and resets the second hand to zero to synchronize the watch with a

reference time signal. Fitted with a 3-day power reserve whose arc-

shaped indicator is visible on the bottom of the dial, the mechanical

self-winding movement is housed in a solid case of satin-brushed

titanium, 47 mm in diameter. Also in brushed titanium, the rotating

bezel - which only runs counter-clockwise - is characterized by round

titanium indicators and linear indicators to calculate immersion

times. The blue dial with luminescent hands displays the date at

3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. The hours and minutes are

indicated by skeleton hands, the second time zone by a black hand.

volcano with an unpronounceable name which led to the closure

of international airspace inspired a stunning watch creation

signed Romain Jerome : the Eyjafjallajökull DNA, with rock and

ash from the volcano. While a recurrence of the eruption was

feared a few weeks ago, to the dismay of travelers around the

world, Romain Jerome stepped up with a new all-black version

of this explosive timepiece, limited to 99 pieces. The black steel

case 46 mm in diameter of the Black Eyjafjallajökull DNA has

been fitted for the occasion with a bezel made of black steel

and ash from the erupting volcano. The brutally rough dial, also

containing volcanic ash, has reddish cracks representing glowing

lava ejected from the heart of the planet, while the design of the

hour and minute markers recall grounded aircraft. A timepiece in

tune with the immediate present, the Black Eyjafjallajökull DNA

is undoubtedly set to become one of our contemporary legends.

Space Invaders, jeu mythique des années 80 s’invite dans l’horlogerie. Quoi de plus normal alors que de choisir un garde-temps « spatial » : la Moon Invader de Romain Jerome. Pour l’occasion, la maison d’horlogerie s’associe à la firme TAITO Corporation - qui a conçu ce jeu - pour créer deux séries limitées de 78 montres. Le boîtier Moon invader de 46mm en acier traité PVD noir abrite un mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique. Sa glace saphir nous dévoile pour sa part un cadran de toute beauté qui reprend le graphisme du jeu. Les envahisseurs sont bien là, exposés sur un cadran usiné à la main, un par un. Chacune des séries limitées a son propre cadran : une version jour « colorée » et une version nuit recouverte de Superluminova. For the occasion, the watchmaking firm teamed up with TAITO Corporation - the game’s designer - to create two limited editions of 78 watches. The Moon Invader’s 46-mm case in black PVD-coated steel houses a mechanical self-winding movement. Its sapphire crystal reveals a very beautiful dial which borrows the game’s graphic identity. The invaders are indeed there, displayed on a hand-machined dial, one by one. Each limited edition has its own dial : a « colored » day version and a night version coated with Superluminova. Even before their release, these timepieces are already highly sought-after collectors’ items : as is often as in this case, there will not be enough for everyone...

En début d’année, Urwerk dévoilait sa nouvelle révolution en matière de lecture du temps avec la UR-110 que nous avions eu le plaisir de vous présenter dans une précédente K News. Face au succès qu’il a déjà rencontré, cet exceptionnel garde-temps au nom de code «Torpédo» (en référence aux trois têtes chercheuses qui voyagent groupées sur le cadran) est proposé dans une nouvelle version toute noire avec un boîtier doté d’une lunette en AlTiN (Aluminium Titane Nitride). Pour rappel, la UR-110 affiche l’heure face à la minute sur la section latérale droite du garde-temps. Le mobile suit un chemin vertical gradué de 0 à 60 minutes dans un mouvement descendant, permettant ainsi une lecture du temps élégante et discrète. En plus de l’heure, le cadran en métal affiche un « Control Board » avec indication jour/nuit, l’indicateur de service développé par Urwerk « Oil Change » et un compteur de 60 secondes. At the beginning of the year, Urwerk unveiled its new revolution for reading the time : the UR-110, which we had the pleasure of presenting to you in a previous K News. On the strength of the success it has already encountered, this exceptional timepiece code-named «Torpedo» (in reference to the three searching heads traveling as a group around the dial) is now proposed in a new all-black version with a case endowed with a bezel made of AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride). As a reminder, the UR-110 displays the hour opposite the minute on the righthand side of the timepiece. The mobile follows a vertical path scaled from 0 to 60 minutes in a descending direction, thus allowing you to check the time elegantly and discreetly. In addition to the time, the metal dial displays a «Control Board» with day/night indicator, the «Oil Change» servicing indicator developed by Urwerk and a 60 seconds counter. Self-winding movement regulated by two turbines. Satellite complication. 39-hour power reserve. Water-resistant to 30 m.

Historique Ultra-fine 1955Depuis de très nombreuses années, Vacheron Constantin est une des manufactures les plus spécialistes et pointues dans l’art de réaliser des montres extra-plates. Dernière-née de la collection Historiques, l’Historique Ultra-fine 1955 est une merveilleuse illustration de ce savoir-faire si particulier et peut se vanter d’être actuellement la montre mécanique la plus plate du monde avec seulement 4,10 mm d’épaisseur. L’Historique Ultra-fine 1955 possède en effet le mouvement mécanique à remontage manuel 1003 le plus mince au monde qui fait seulement 1, 64 mm d’épaisseur. Spécialement reconstruit en or 18k pour célébrer son 55ème anniversaire, il est estampillé Poinçon de Genève, se compose de 117 éléments et n’est pas plus grand qu’une pièce de 20 centimes suisses. Enfermé dans un boîtier en or rose 18k de 36 mm de diamètre, le cadran opalin argenté en or 18k présente un design épuré et possède des index et une Croix de Malte - symbole de Vacheron Constantin - en poli miroir. For many years, Vacheron Constantin has been one of the most specialized watchmakers deploying the greatest expertise in the art of designing ultra-slim watches. The latest addition to the Historiques collection, the Historique Ultra-fine 1955, is a wonderful illustration of this very special skill and can proudly lay claim to being the world’s thinnest mechanical watch at only 4.10 mm. The Historique Ultra-fine 1955 in fact has the world’s slimmest mechanical handwound 1003 movement, only 1.64 mm. Specially redesigned in 18-carat gold to celebrate its 55th anniversary, it bears the Hallmark of Geneva, consists of 117 parts and is no larger than a Swiss 20-centime coin. Housed in an 18-carat rose gold case 36 mm in diameter, the silvered opaline dial in 18-carat gold offers sleek design, mirror-polished hands and a Maltese Cross - the symbol of Vacheron Constantin. Diamond FlowerSurprenante d’éclat, la nouvelle collection Diamond Flower de Perrelet incarne à la fois l’élégance et l’harmonie. Le boîtier en céramique noire ou blanche est surmonté d’une lunette en acier sertie de 64 diamants d’une extrême finesse. Le cadran en nacre serti de 54 diamants allie charme et intensité pour la version noire, pureté et fraîcheur pour la Diamond Flower blanche. En son centre, le célèbre mouvement automatique Double Rotor de Perrelet prend l’apparence d’une fleur de lotus qui effleure quelques pétales sertis parcimonieusement déposés sur le cadran. The mother-of-pearl dial set with 54 diamonds combines charm and intensity in the black version, purity and freshness in the white Diamond Flower. At its center, Perrelet’s famous Double Rotor automatic movement assumes the appearance of a lotus flower, scattering a few diamond-set petals over the dial. Connected to, and perfectly synchronized with, the oscillating weight, this lotus flower is also a technical component in its own right, providing extra energy for the winding mechanism.

Chronographe Timewalker TwinflyA la fois technique et innovant, le chronographe à roue à colonnes Timewalker Twinfly de Montblanc édité en série limitée à 300 pièces affiche un design racé et puissant et fait la part belle à la couleur noire, dont il est totalement recouvert. TimeWalker Twinfly ChronographTechnical and innovative, Montblanc’s TimeWalker TwinFly column-wheel chronograph in a limited edition of 300 pieces flaunts sleek and powerful design, giving pride of place to black, with which it is completely covered. The 43-mm diameter case in titanium with black DLC coating contains a self-winding chronograph movement with flyback function, which allows the wearer to reset the timing process back to zero, and instantly trigger a new session by pressing and immediately releasing the reset button at 4 o’clock. A combination of a column-wheel chronograph and a transparent automatic one-minute tourbillon offset at 11 o’clock, this sporty timepiece has been designed to withstand the most extreme conditions. Its movement is the first automatic tourbillon to have passed the Chronofiable test successfully. At first glance, the Silverstone Tourbillograph Full Black has all the impressive clout of a sophisticated and elegant racing-car. Its fine steel case 48 mm in diameter is covered with black PVD titanium carbide, a treatment also applied to the bezel, the chronograph’s start/stop push-button and the reset button, both located to the right of the case.
