HBL Power Systems offers one of the world's widest range of batteries and Integrated Power Systems.

Our batteries work effectively in railway applications - including engine start, on-board auxiliary

power, railway signaling, emergency communication equipment, door control and traction

substations. HBL are working with leading Railway OEMs, catering to global markets and provide

integrated services of supplying battery system (i.e. batteries with battery boxes).

These batteries are designed using highly stable sintered positive and pasted negative plates which

combines – reduced maintenance and less operating costs. KRM, KRX are best choice for long-life and

consistent performance under severe operating & cyclic conditions, which often exist in these

applications.

KRM PS Nickel cadmium single cell batteries are designed to provide fail-safe emergency back-up

power for lighting, air-conditioning, radio communication, door control, computing and other

applications requiring medium power.

KRX PS Nickel cadmium single cell batteries are designed for diesel engine starting, emergency

braking and other applications requiring high power for short durations. KRX has exceptionally good

performance even at very low temperatures and starting is guaranteed even at temperatures as low as

-20°C.

Nickel cadmium KRM PS, KRX PS series are constructed using Sintered positive and Pasted Negative

electrodes. The sintered positive plates are manufactured using a high temperature sintering process

to form a strong plate, which can survive the rigors of the rail applications. The pasted negative

electrode is designed with high power density and has less water consumption, thus reduces the

periodicity of topping –up the cells with DI water. The sintered micro-porous separators and

membrane separators provide insulation between the plates and permits free ow of electrolyte.

KRM PS, KRX PS batteries are housed in plastic Polysulfone containers which are transparent in nature

so that electrolyte levels can be visualized easily. Polysulfone containers are ame retardant complying

with NFPA standard. The cells are provided with ame arresting vents and are rmly held in stainless

steel crates for ruggedness, easy handling. If requested, the cells can be provided with integrated

water lling system.

Steel or Copper terminals and fasteners give these batteries the ruggedness required to meet the

demanding application needs. Cells are provided with reliable ame-arresting vents and are

assembled in stainless steel crates for easy handling.

KRM PS, KRX PS batteries comply with electrical and mechanical international (rail) industry standards

like IEC 60623, IEC 61373 (shock & vibration) and IEC 60077.

These batteries also comply with ASTM E 162 (Flame Propagation), ASTM E 662 (Smoke density),BSS 7239 (Toxicity-Flaming) requirements for railway coaches.

These batteries are manufactured in well-established facility in HBL, India, certied as per

International Rail Industry standard (IRIS), quality management systems ISO 9001 and Environment

management system standard EMS 18001:2007 at each stage from design through manufacturing

and testing, after-sales.

Lighter than conventional lead acid batteries.

Low life cycle cost when compared to conventional lead acid battery.

No topping-up with water required for long periods (more than 2 years) at 1.47V/cell, 20 Deg.C

Can operate at wider temperature range, without damage.

Performs even at extremely low temperatures (less than –20 deg C)

High cyclic life (> 3000 cycles at 80% DOD)

Quick charge capability (accepts more than 90% of charge within 3 hours).

No change of electrolyte during its lifetime.
