• On Krishna’s word, Nanda Maharaj immediately calls for the cowherd boys

• Taking lots of milk and milk preparations, They are to set out for Mathura.

• Nanda Maharaja tells the police chief to invite the villagers for Dhanur Yagna

Plight of the Gopis

• Overwhelmed with anxiety

• Aggrieved, faces turned black

• Begin to breathe warmly, palpitations of the heart

Imminent separation from Krishna

• Stop all work as if called forth to die

• Hair loosens when they hear that Akrura is taking Krishna away

• Some immediately faint due to separation from Krishna

Assemble with heavy beating hearts• With tears in their eyes, remembering Krishna, they begin to converse

• Providence is cruel, Krishna is cruel, Akrura (means not cruel) is cruel!

• We have left everything for Krishna and He is now neglecting us

Gopis imagine the scene in Mathura

• Great functions in Mathura city

• Krishna would pass through the streets.

• Different communities of Yadu dynasty expecting the arrival of Krishna

• The beautiful girls of Mathura would look from the balconies.

• Gopis feel threatened.

• Krishna will be controlled by them and forget us.

Gopis condemn Akrura’s activities

• Akrura is taking away dearest Krishna. He did not inform or comfort them.

• Krishna is already seated on the chariot. He is neither intelligent nor civilized.

• Krishna and the cowherd men are callous. They are yolking the bulls for the journey.

• Elders are merciless. They don’t stop Krishna from going.

• Even the demigods are unkind. They don’t impend Krishna’s departure.

Gopis cry all night

• Pray for natural disturbances

• Decide to personally stop Krishna

• How can we forget Krishna our life and soul?

• Every evening Krishna would return home

• His smiling face is covered with godhuli.

• He plays on His flute and looks on kindly.

• If He leaves, we cannot live.

• O Dear Damodara! Dear Madhava!

Gopis surround the Chariot• Akrura starts for Mathura on the chariot with Krishna and Balarama.

• Nanda Maharaja and the cowherd boys follow.

• Gopis surround the chariot and look at Krishna with pitiable eyes.

• Krishna is very much affected by the plight of the Gopis.

• His duty is to start for Mathura.

• It has been foretold by Narada.

Krishna consoles the Gopis

• They should not grieve.

• He would soon return.

• He has to finish some business.

• But, the Gopis did not disperse.

The chariot leaves Vrindavana

• The chariot proceeds towards the west, the minds of the Gopis follow.

• They watch the chariot until only the dust of the chariot could be seen.

• They stood still as if like painted pictures.

Gopis remember Krishna

• They decide Krishna is not returning soon.

• With disappointed hearts, they return home.

• They simply think of Krishna day and night.

• In this way, they derive some consolation.

Akrura visits Vishnuloka within the Yamuna

• Krishna & Balarama bathe in Yamuna.

• Akrura takes permission to bathe.

• While chanting Gayatri mantra, Akrura sees Krishna Balarama in the Yamuna waters.

• Confused, he rushes to the chariot and finds Them sitting as before.

• Goes back to the Yamuna and this time sees Lord Krishna as Maha Vishnu & Lord Balarama as Sesha NAga

• Lord surrounded by Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva, Prahlad, Narada, 4 Kumaras & other heavenly denizens

Description of Maha Vishnu

• Very pleasing, raised nose, broad forehead, reddish lips

• Long arms, high shoulders, broad chest, deep navel, broad waist

• Toes like lotus petals, dazzling nails

• Decorated with valuable jewels

• Palms like lotus flowers, held emblems of Vishnu MUrthi

• Chest marked with Srivatsa

• Although overwhelmed, Akrura bows down and begins to offer prayers in a faltering voice.
