DEPUTY’S REPORT by Mel Fenton

Hello, Another exciting week at Kororo Public School has flown by with plenty of great things happening in and out of the classroom. This week I had the pleasure of wishing our Boccia Team good luck as they travelled down to Homebush for the State Championships last Thursday. The team played 4 rounds, competing against students from both high schools & primary schools. They won a game in their fourth round and showed excellent sportsmanship. The Boccia Team and their super coach, Student Learning Support Officer Mrs Crawley, had amazing team spirit and most of all had lots of fun. Congratulations Tess N, Marijke C-G, Sammy B, Dominic P and Rueben P. Well done!

On Monday this week, the school had a special Waterwise Assembly where Councillor Michael Adendorff came to present the school with it’s Waterwise certification in recognition of the Kororo Public Schools continued work with Cascade Environmental Education Centre to educate our staff and students how we can continue to look after our environment and save precious water. Some Year 6 students did a fantastic job creating eye catching posters with fantastic slogans such as “Go slow on the H2O!” that will be placed around the school to remind us all to save water.

A reminder that our Winter Sports Carnival for Years 3-6 Students is this coming Friday. Special sports days like these are designed so that all students from various sporting abilities can choose a new sport and learn different skills in a fun and non-competitive environment. We would love to see as many of our 3-6 students there participating as possible. Please make sure that you pay for this day by Thursday 15th August to help with the organisation of the carnival. K-2 Students will also have their Fun Sports Day at school on the same day. It should be a great time. Parents are most welcome to attend this fun day too.
