We had such a lovely evening on Tuesday at our annual Presentation Night. It was wonderful seeing so many parents and community members there to support our students and school.

Our students performed splendidly singing their hearts out. Thank you to Mrs Lawrence and Mrs Simpson in ensuring our choirs where spot on in their performances of I'd like to teach the world to sing and Summer Wonderland. Thank you also to Mr Dutton of the Tamworth Conservatorium and the boys of our didgeridoo group who performed at a moment’s notice. It’s just impressive knowing you all have only learnt the didgeridoo in the past six months and are learning to master the art of circular breathing. Well done!

Thank you to our captains, Zachary Holliday, Damikah Barwick-Taylor, Brenden Thompson and Emma Jarrett, who conducted the evening and were ably supported by Mrs Chegwyn and Miss Kelly. Congratulations to all students who received awards. It was a pleasure sharing in your delight and pure surprise.

Congratulations also to our incumbent captains for 2020, Angus Frewen, Jessie Johnson, Coby Hobden and Elloise Sharpham. Your utter surprise of your selection made me so proud of your humbleness. I know the four of you will represent our school and community in the light with which it deserves.

Last but not least, thank you to Mrs Dunn and our P&C. Mrs Dunn was the person responsible for the organisation of the awards, photos and service booklets. To our P&C, thank you for conducting the raffle and to our community thank you for your generous donations.

This Thursday, our students in years 3 and 4 are heading to Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre for their overnight excursion. Miss Bennett, Miss Semmler and Mr Cracknell are taking this excursion and we know our students are looking forward to this. Have a great time!

Next week is the last weekly newsletter for the year.

This week the focus for PBL is our expectations during a lockdown. These expectations are underpinned by the core value Safe.

Next week, our students will participate in a practice lockdown. We practise this lockdown so our children are prepared in case of an emergency.

During the PBL lesson this week, students participated in the classroom following the directions given when in a lockdown situation. As a part of this lesson, students view a video demonstrating a lockdown in a school, noting the quietness of the students and school grounds.

The PBL team encourages families to discuss this scenario with their children.

The poster for a lockdown is below.
