A massive congratulations to all involved in CAPERS last week. All the time spent in rehearsals culminated in a spectacular production on Friday and Saturday night at the TREC. As Principal, I can’t thank Miss Magann enough. Miss Magann spent countless break times being with the students going through their dance sequences, ensuring they knew the dances. Our students performed splendidly and were a delight to have as a group out the back. Thank you also to the staff who assisted throughout the CAPERS process and assisted with supervision on Friday and Saturday night. It was a great Kootingal effort from all involved. Let’s do it all again in two years time! !

Our Kindergarten Bright Stars Transition program concluded this week. This program was the culmination of 10 continuous weeks of transition for Kootingal Public School. We are extremely proud of our transition program and we know our impending Kindergarten students had a lot of fun. This week our students in Year 5 were introduced to their Kindergarten buddies. They were excited and relished their opportunity to be the ‘big’ kids supporting our newest students. They performed splendidly and are starting to create wonderful bonds with the impending Kindergarten students. Well done! A massive thank you to Mrs Lawrence who, for the last 10 weeks, has worked with our local pre school and families in coordinating our transition program. Mrs Lawrence’s expertise in the Early Stage 1 area is second to none and Kootingal Public School is very fortunate to have her as a teacher. We look forward to seeing our new Kindergartens and families in 2018.

!!!This Friday, Kootingal Public School will commemorate Remembrance Day. Our service is at the Kootingal Memorial and will commence at 10.55am. Everyone is welcome to attend. !

Next Monday, 13th November, our candidates for School Captain 2018 are presenting their speeches to the whole school at 9.30am in the school’s hall. Our families and community members are welcome to attend to see our students performing at their best. We are looking forward to hearing the students talk about their ambitions. Voting by staff and students will occur immediately after the speeches. I would like to wish all students the very best. !Next week, the School Swimming Scheme commences. This is a Government-funded program that is free for students in Years 2 to 6 who are unable to swim 25m confidently in deep water. Mrs Simpson is the coordinator of the program this year. We are fortunate to have the local pool on our door step and it’s a wonderful facility. Enjoy! !Presentation Night is approaching fast and Mrs Dunn is busy in her preparations to ensure that all is in readiness for the big evening. I have signed nearly all the awards with book plates at the ready for the much prized books. Please ensure you mark Thursday 7th December and the time of 6pm in your phones and diaries. It’s always a wonderful evening sharing with our community the hard work of our students. !This week, all families received notice of the canteen opening next Friday 17th November. All orders must be submitted to the front office by Wednesday 15th November. The advert is on our Facebook page and a text message was sent to remind our families as well. !!!!!Tomorrow, 10th November, we are commemorating Remembrance Day at the Kootingal and District War Memorial at 10:55am. All Welcome. Mrs Doak !!!

!!All library books must be return by Thursday 23rd November for stocktaking purposes. Borrowing for home will finish next week (Week 6). With thanks Mrs Anne Doak Teacher Librarian !!!!!
