This week Mrs Chegwyn and myself attended professional learning around our understanding and use of data to analyse our progress as a school. This professional learning also centred on our use of the School Excellence Framework as we complete a self assessment annually. This learning was highly valuable. Mrs Chegwyn and I are excited about the prospect of facilitating this learning with our teaching staff so we form more reliable and valid judgements of our progress with the required evidence to support it.

Kootingal Public School is again hosting a World of Maths Day on Thursday 19th March. Kootingal Public School held the first of the days last year with both students and staff loving the hands on approach to mathematics. Like in 2019, the school is covering the cost of the program so all students are able to participate. This is possible through the use of Equity funding. Our school’s focus on the creative and performing arts areas is continuing with the acquisition of a booking for Edward the Emu for all students in K-2. Students in K-2 will be able to experience a live performance of this classic tale by Sheena Knowles. This performance is scheduled for Term 4. Information regarding this excursion will come closer to Term 4.

Next week is our P&C’s AGM followed by the ordinary monthly meeting. The AGM will be conducted Tuesday 17th March at 6pm in the school’s staffroom. All positions will be declared vacant. Without the support of the P&C, Kootingal Public School would not be able to function as effectively as it currently does. Our P&C operate our canteen as well as supporting our students by subsidising excursions related to the school’s focus. Our P&C is integral. If you’ve got some spare time please come along to the meeting.

In the coming weeks, Kootingal Public School commences its first round of Parent Teacher Interviews. We have kept the same process as last year with interviews scheduled over the two weeks (two Tuesdays – 24th March and 31st March) between 4pm and 6pm to cater for families and their increasing demands. Families can schedule the interviews using the School Interviews hyperlink here. The code is a7qh6. If you have any issues, please contact the school. Please note the option to secure an interview will close 9am each day of the interviews. This is so teachers are aware of appointment times and can plan accordingly.
