PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEFun Run

What a fabulous day it was last Friday. The weather was perfect for sprinklers and fire engines to wet students as they walked and ran around the KPS course. Sincere thanks to Mrs Morgan Kennedy, for the in school coordination of this event. Thank you to the large number of parents who came along on the day and provided support and assisted with cooking. The students had a fantastic day and especially enjoyed the students verse the teachers and parents soccer game. May I say, the teachers and parents won, but only just. Not quite sure who were the fittest players on the field but know the ones who stretched the boundaries!!! What a great way to bring our families together in an entertaining way. The students cherish this opportunity, so thanks must go out to all the parents who made this day so successful. The other amazing result was the amount of money that has been raised for the school. So congratulations to everyone involved through helping your child/ren gain sponsorship, an incredible achievement.

Kinder O last session

This week the final Kindergarten Orientation morning will be held. These mornings have been extremely successful and have provided students with a great opportunity to familiarise themselves with the school, build friendships and learn to feel that school is a happy and safe environment to be. This hopefully makes next year a lot easier when the students start as they are already comfortable with all the surroundings. Much thanks to Mrs Kate Marshall, Mrs Dimity Balding, Mrs Prue McAuliffe and Mrs Morgan Kennedy who have organised the orientation program. Thanks also to Mrs Kate Redfern and Mrs Jo van der Rijt who have assisted with the teaching program of the current kindergartens.

Presentation Night

This year the annual Presentation Night Award ceremony will take place in Week 9, Thursday, 8 December at Joyes Hall. Students receiving awards will be sent home letters outlining the time they will need to be at Joyes Hall. Throughout the year many students have received awards to celebrate successes. During the presentation night we recognise students that display consistency, citizenship or outstanding work ethic. Teachers struggle to limit their choices but recognise that students must accept that only a few students will receive awards on the night

Student Reports

At present our teachers are finalising the Semester 2

reports for all students. These reports will indicate the achievements, attitude and application of your child to their learning experiences. The reporting process is lengthy and teachers spend many hours at home and school in assessment analysis and in writing comments. Our aim is to communicate meaningful information to you about your child’s achievements and future directions for successful learning. Reports will be sent home on Friday, 9 December.

Bev Jenkyn, Acting Principal

BAND NOTESWelcome to Week Seven!

Last Wednesday our students from all classes had the fortunate opportunity to participate in a concert provided by the Maquarie Park Regional Band. The Band comprised of fifty students from across the Sydney North Shore area.

The Band treated us to a variety of music from modern pop music to more traditional Jazz music.

It was a magnificent morning of music and fun and on behalf of Kooringal Public School I would like to thank the students of the Maquarie Park Band and their conductor Mr James Hill for taking the time to visit our school.

Band Recruitment

If you are interested in being in the band and weren’t able to make it to our band recruitment, you haven’t missed out! All you need to do is grab a band information pack from the front office or Mr Harris, fill in the forms and send them back to school.

Baptist Community Services Visit

This Thursday the 24th of November our bands will be utilising their talents to entertain the residents of the Baptist Care Facility.

Band Members will need to be at school no later than 9am as both junior and concert band students will be

We need parents to be involved in the KPS P & C!

The KPS P&C Committee are a vital part of the school community in supporting and providing resources for our students, running the school uniform shop and overseeing the running of the canteen. This year we have raised around $16,500!! Money raised goes directly back into the school for your children. Without the P&C there would be no uniform shop, no canteen and no additional resources such as new readers, smartboards, amphitheatre area and the new climbing/play equipment that will be installed in early 2017.

P&C meetings are held once a month (third Tuesday) in the school staffroom. The P&C is run by an executive team that consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and most importantly you the parents.

The P&C AGM will be held on 21 March, 2017 where all positions are vacated and nomination and election occurs. The parents in the following positions will not be seeking re-election in 2017 and hence the P&C will need the following to be filled in order to operate;

• President

• Vice President

• Secretary

walking down to the facility at 9:10am.

Students will need a packed lunch for the day as we will eat at the centre. They will need their hats, drink bottle, instrument and music folders also.

Uniform is summer sports uniform for both bands.

This will be a wonderful learning experience for our band members as they use their talents to bring a little bit of music and happiness into the lives of others.

Concert Band Shirts

If you are a member of the concert band, it is now time to return your concert shirts. Could you please bring your concert shirts to school with you this Thursday morning to be collected. Thank you.
