Welcome Back
Welcome back everyone for our final term of the 2019 school year. It is a very busy term for staff, students and parents with end-of-year events and excursions.
Our Year 6 students and their families are faced with the final weeks of primary school and transition arrangements for high school. Best wishes to these families for a very positive finish to primary school at Kolan South. Our Year 6 Graduation morning in December will be a great celebration.
We are also preparing for orientation of our Prep students for 2020, and welcoming new families to our school community.
Disco Thanks
A big thank-you to everyone who helped with organisation or helped out on the night at our recent disco. Special thanks to P&C members Cathy Simpson, Miriam Willis, Vanessa Hart and Julie Hamel for their efforts in organisation and running of the canteen and glow products. Thank-you as well to Bronson Magin for taking charge of the sausage sizzle, Kelley Nathan-Webster for organising the raffle, and to all those that supported on the night, including staff and parents. Calendar Please check the calendar of events for this term because it is a very busy time leading up to Break-up Day.
Trivia Night Information
Please refer to the information about the Trivia Night event on this Saturday, 12 October. Contact the Administration to book a table or seats, or return the slip over the page. Students in Year 4 to 6 will participate in a soccer carnival at Gin Gin, next Friday, 18 October. Students will receive a letter early next week confirming arrangements. Excursion Payments
Parents, with excursions coming around in the next few weeks, please contact the school early if you require any support regarding payments. Payments for Year 3&4 and Year 5&6 Excursions are due next Friday, 18 October.
Prep 2020
Please refer to our advertisement about the Prep 2020 Orientation morning on Friday, 15 November.
School Improvement Review
Our school will be having a school review on Wednesday 27 November and Thursday 28 November. These reviews happen at least every four years.
The reviews do not rate or compare schools but provide independent and quality feedback to help schools continue to improve outcomes for students.
A final report is made available to parents and the community on the school’s website.
The review team will want to hear from our school community and I encourage anyone who is interested to have their say when the time comes.
Your feedback is important and will help us continue to deliver a quality education for students.
Further information about the reviews is available from the department’s website at:
education.qld.gov.au/schools/school-performance-assessment-framework
Family Night Please note the date for our end-of-year Family Night is Tuesday, 10 December. We hope everyone will be able to make it along on the night.
