Respect For Life Ministry

Baby Saved!

We don't always get to see the bountiful harvest our prayers and fasting are reaping...but during most of our40-day public prayer vigils we do at least once!!

This was the case on Friday, Oct. 12th, while prayer volunteers from St. Brigid's and Holy Cross CatholicChurches were keeping vigil, backed up by the many others who are praying and fasting from home! This storyis based on the testimony of Cathy Schneider, a "sidewalk counselor" and Respect Life Coordinator at St. Bri-gid's.

When Kenny and Jasmine, who is 6-7 weeks pregnant, came to Feminist Womens Health Center ("FEMS") onFriday morning, Oct. 12th, they encountered the loving presence of Jesus reaching out to them through Cathyand the prayer vigil volunteers.

Cathy was able to get Kenny to come talk with her, at which time he explained that they have a 7 month oldand it would be hard financially to have another baby so soon. "He just said it was bad timing and they thoughtthey would abort this baby and try again in a year and the kids could be more spread apart," Cathy shared. Healso told Cathy that he didn't want the abortion, but Jasmine did.

The Holy Spirit gave Cathy these points to share with Kenny and lovingly encourage him to go in the clinic andget them out:

It's so important that he tell Jasmine that 1) He does not want the abortion, 2) He will stand by her and bethere, 3) They can do this together.

It is really not in a mom's DNA to want to kill her child; she is probably scared. Statistics show that 85% of women say they felt they had no choice and felt pressured to abort. Couples who go through an abortion together statistically do not make it. It is hard to stay together when

they have this deep wound between them. The physical, emotional and spiritual side effects of abortion on women, including miscarriage. How wonderful it is to have babies close together because they are usually great friends and can grow up

together and play together.

This next part needs to be verbatim in Cathy's own words:

"I asked him what he would do if I came to his house and was going to hurt his 7 month old baby. Of course hesaid he would stop me. I showed him the tiny rubber baby I had in my hand and said this is about the size ofyour baby now and it is just in the womb, not born yet. I said, 'Can you please go protect that baby. That baby isprecious and needs protecting too.'

I told him I have asked many men to be a hero and go get their girlfriends out of this clinic and a lot of themdon't do it. I told him I thought he would do it. I knew he was brave enough and loved her. I offered and He tookall the information I had in my hand and the tiny baby...

He asked me if he could have my 'beads' (my rosary) and I said yes of course! I pressed the rosary in his handsand said, 'Now go get her - we are all praying for you and we know you will be courageous...now go get her outof there and let me treat you to breakfast!”

Respect For Life Ministry (Continued)

Baby Saved!

Kenny went inside FEMS and Cathy went over to the prayer vigil volunteers to ask them all to pray for Kenny and Jas-mine.

And then, in Cathy's words....

"...he returned a short time later with his arm around her walking out of the clinic!!! I started jumping up and downand pumping my fist in the air saying, 'Yes!' over and over again! I was praising God, 'Thank you, Lord, thank you,Lord!', and the prayer warriors all started clapping. Jasmine put her hand over her mouth and was crying. They cameand gave me a big hug!!! They were BEAMING!!!"

Cathy then took them to breakfast at Chick-fil-A where she learned more about their life and current circumstances:

"They are engaged. They are both working. They live in Lithonia. The whole time she just kept sighing and saying shewas so happy. He had his arm around her when they were talking to me and she leaned her head in on him. PraiseGod this man was a warrior for his child and stood up and got her out of there and stood by her. She really did notwant to do it. She was so relieved.

She said they were going to go tell her parents. ... I asked her if she would have told her mom about the abortion. Sheadamantly said NO, and I said, 'Well your mom wants those grandbabies - you will see, she will be so happy for you.'That's when she mentioned her mom was a nurse at Emory and would not have liked the abortion idea.

Kenny said his dad was not around at all when he was growing up and he was making things different for his kids. Ithanked him for standing by her and being a dad to his children - that we needed more men to do this.

They were just very happy and so relieved. They were smiling so big."

Please keep this sweet family in your prayers, and stay tuned for our baby shower announcement for them!!
