Feeds Library

• The Feeds Library provides access to a database of feeds relevant to Health & Social Care Staff.

• The Feeds Library allows users to add, find and manage Feeds.

• The Knowledge for Care Scotland site provides all NHS Athens users with a Feed Reader widget on the My Home tab called ‘My News and Updates’.

• You need an NHS Athens account to manage your Feeds.

Adding New Feeds

• There are three options for adding a new Feed to the Feeds Library.

• Option 1 – Adding a Feed to just the Feeds Library moderation queue.

• Option 2 – Adding a feed to your My Resource Space and the Feeds Library moderation queue.

• Option 3 – Adding a Feed to your Community Webspace and the Feeds Library moderation queue.

Adding a New Feed – Option 1• Top right hand corner of the

Hompage

• Add the Feed URL and Title into the fields and submit

• Feeds added here will be added to the moderation queue for the Feeds Library.

Adding a New Feed – Option 2• Top right hand corner of My

Resource Page within your my Feeds area.

• Add feed URL and title into the fields and submit.

• Feeds added here will be added to your My Resource Space and to the moderation queue for the Feeds Library.

Adding a New Feed – Option 3• Top right hand corner of the

Community Webspace Page within your MyFeeds area.

• Add feed URL and title into the fields and submit.

• Feeds added here will be added to your Community Webspace and to the moderation queue for the Feeds Library.

• You must be an administrator of a community to use this option

Finding Feeds

• Search and browse functionality available at the top left hand corner of each page.

• Keyword search searches across Title, description, subjects and types.

• Browse by subject and type – each feed record is tagged with subjects and types. Users can browse and display a set of results relating to that term.

Manage Feeds – Feed Record

• Clicking on the title of the Feed will display the Feed in a new window

• Use the functionality at the bottom of each feed record to add the feed to your My Resource Space, Community Webspace, external Feed Reader or copy the Feed URL or coding to add to a website.

Manage Feeds – My Resource Space

Click on the My Feeds tab to access your My Resource Space and view or remove any Feeds added to this space.

Click on ‘Add to My Resource’ tab from any feed record to add a Feed to your My Resource Space.

• You need to have a NHS Athens account to use this space• Any Feeds added to your My Resource Space will

automatically appear on the My News & Updates widget on the My Home tab in the Knowledge for Care Scotland site.

• Your My Resource Space sits in the Knowledge for Care Scotland site – www.knowledge.scot.nhs.uk

Manage Feeds – Community Feeds

Click on ‘Add to My Community’ tab from any feed record to add a Feed to your Community Webspace.

Click on the My Feeds tab to access your My Resource Space and view or remove any Feeds added to this space.

• You need to have a NHS Athens account to use this space

• You need to be administrator of a Community Webspace to add any Feeds to your community.

My News and Updates widget

• The Knowledge for Care Scotland site provides all NHS Athens users with a Feed Reader widget on the My Home tab called ‘My News and Updates’.

• You need an NHS Athens account to manage your Feeds.

My News and Updates widget

•Any Feeds added will display automatically on the widget.

•Clicking on the title of the feed will open the full feed in a new window.

•Clicking on the title of a story will open the full story in a new window

•Click on the ‘Edit’ button to configure the display of your feeds.

•Click on the red cross next to the feed to remove the feed from the widget and click on ‘All my News and Updates’ to reinstate any feeds to the widget.

•Change the number of items displayed from each feed.
