Sir Knight Don La Pato and wife Patty are fixtures at Knights

events. Don chairs our council’s membership drives and serves

as the Assembly’s Faithful Scribe. Pat is free from a wheelchair

after an injury and ready for a new season in the Columbiettes

and Knights functions. DGK John Caltabiano thanks them for

their commitment to family, K of C, and church.

In a compelling presentation, members of the San Marco Youth Group reported to the Knights on their trips to

Catholic Heart Work Camps in Tampa and Belize last June. Youth Director Kim accompanied Patrick, Saman-

tha, and Cameron to Belize where they painted and repaired the homes of needy residents while building quarters

allowing a disabled boy to attend school. Assistant Director Dorothy Flint and husband Jeff joined Marissa and

Lauren in Tampa were they refurbished a home for a foster mom and cleaned and landscaped a local church. Our

council proudly supports these intelligent and inspiring young members of San Marco, so committed to our faith.

BIRTHDAYS Brother Knights:

Having spent the month of September on the New Jersey shore, our

Deputy Grand Knight, John Caltabiano did an outstanding job in keep-

ing the council running smoothly. John accompanied Brother Joseph

Riccio to FT. Lauderdale for his Third Degree Exemplification. Con-

gratulations Joseph.

John was the officer in charge at the September social, which was well attended.

Everyone saw a wonderful presentation by our youth group on their work in both

Tampa FL and the island of Belize.

The Knight of the month was Sir Knight Joe Swaja and the Family of the Month

was Sir Knight Don and Lady Pat La

Pato. John also welcomed Sir Knight Al

Schettino to his first Social as Marco Is-

land Chief of Police. Once again it

shows the caliber of the men and women

in the Knights’ family.

The” season “ is fast approaching with

our Kick off spaghetti dinner on Tuesday

Oct. 14. We all are looking forward to a

great year.

Dear Sister Columbiettes:

Welcome back to all our sister Columbiettes who have been away this summer. Let us

pray that this season will be as enjoyable and productive as the last. We have great plans in

place for the coming year including Treasures in the Trunk Sales on Nov. 8, 2014 and Feb. 21,

2015, and our Winter Wonderland Dance on Jan. 24, 2015. By the time this Banner is printed,

we will have held our first meeting of the year and our First and Major Degrees. I will report

on these events in next month’s Banner.

God bless all the Columbiettes, Knights, and their families with good health and a won-

derful year ahead.

The Fourth Degree Principle of Patriotism was aptly demonstrated

(right) at the San Marco 9-11 mass celebrated by Father Russell. Po-

lice, Firefighters, and other first responders were honored and blessed for

their contributions and commitment to our safety and well being. Knights in

regalia and all degrees, accompanied by Columbiettes added their prayers

and thanks to the service.

I am pleased to announce that the Assembly is

planning a sunset cruise on the Marco Princess

(left) to raise money for our veterans programs.

Please hold the date of Thursday, November 13. The tickets are $60/person. We hope knights will buy

and sell tickets to support this important cause and help us fill the 140 seats on board.
