Brothers, It seems like our summer has gone and the schools and college football are here again. You can guess which team that I roll with. Our next Council Business meeting is Tuesday, September 3rd. The optional Rosary is at 7:00, followed by the Business meeting at 7:30. This past month, we would like to thank Brother Bob Fiscella for organizing the Knight’s cookout and grilling for the Dunwoody Butterfly Festival. A Big Thank You goes out to the group that volunteered to cook Hundreds of Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. We appreciate Steve Strong and his group that hauled the Big Cooker to the Festival. Once again we were able to be in the spotlight as Knights of Columbus, Volunteering and showing our pride in as Volunteers for a great cause. Brother Dave Richardson has placed the Great Pumpkin Patch order for delivery in late September. He will announce a date for the upcoming Pumpkin Off –Loading. We will need our Brothers, men and family members to help with the unloading. It usually takes about an hour with the help of the forklift. Bingo – This is one of our major Fund Raisers. Plan on attending our next Bingo, Thursday Sept. 26. Set up is now much easier since we are allowed to leave the Bingo Boards on the stands? We can always use help just getting the event started. Please come by at 5:30 or later to help, or bring the family to play and maybe win one of the cash prizes or win a door prize. Brother Bryan Kler and his volunteers held their annual Alter Servers Appreciation White Water outing at Six Flags over Atlanta. Adoration will be Sept. 21st and 22nd, please sign up at the business meeting or contact John Gannon. Please think about volunteering for an hour of your time to pray for the unborn and Pro-Life. All Saints Annual Ministry Fair is the weekend of Sep-tember 7th, 8th, after all Masses. I have asked Brother Wulf to ask for volunteers to man our table after their Mass. We will have a table with our banner and handouts for possible future members. Please contact Wulf or me if you could stay a few minutes after the mass you attend and represent our Council with any questions. (continued)

Please volunteer for this worthy cause. Brothers, we are looking for over 200 members of our council that are past due with our yearly dues. Deceased Brother Mass of Remembrance
Tuesday October 8th, 7 PM Mass It’s not going to be the same without our traditional honor guard, but we will celebrate our deceased brothers with the same bit of reverence as always. We will reinvent the ceremony to ensure it is just as meaningful. A reception will follow in McGivney Hall as always.

This is a FIRST. A joint Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 134 Speaker Event is scheduled on Wednesday 23 October 2019 at McGivney Hall (starting at approximately noon). The Honorable Mike Mason, Mayor of the City of Peachtree Corners, is the scheduled speaker. He is a valued supporter of both the K of C and the American Legion (Veterans). Mayor Mason has enabled the creation of a Veterans Monument in Peachtree Corners, which was dedicated on 06/03/2019. It was was attended by hundreds of participants and included an Honor Guard of our Knights of Columbia in full regalia and a military band, speakers, etc. A signup sheet for the speaker event has been circulated and and will continue to be circulated at future K of C meetings and American Legion Meetings. Attendees are asked to sign the sheet and pay $10.00 for the costs anticipated for lunch at the event. There is a projected limit of 55 attendees, as this is the maximum McGivney Hall can support (lunch tables shall take up much of the available room). Adequate food preparation depends on the total anticipated number attendees. The menu for the event is pork tenderloin with grilled potatoes and onions, tossed salad, and desert. Drinks (at minimum cost) shall be sold at our McGivney Hall bar. We are hopeful that this event will be well- supported by our Knights and result in success. A closs cross pollenization of our two organizations. Our Chancellor, Wulf Lindenau, is the council contact at 770-558-1022 and [email protected].
Ministry Fair for New Members The Parish Ministry Fair is scheduled at Masses on Sat/Sun of September 7/8 outside the church doors. All parish ministries will have tables set up with information about joining their particular ministry. It is a great opportunity for recruiting new council members.
For both Sat and Sun we should have K of C Knights (at least two brothers) available at each Mass to hand out K of C information hand-outs to both male and female parishioners (for their male family members) at select masses (for Sat at the 08:30 AM Mass and for Sunday at the 07:30 AM and the 10:30 AM and the 12:15 PM Mass). We shall have a table with a Knights of Columbus Banner and appropriate (available) handouts to prospective K of C applicants. Wives are especially important potential recruiting targets, since they are known to want their reluctant husbands involved in parish activities. Many of our current members were prompted by wives to become members. Plus help us man a table. (pun intended).

We recorded 134 players on August 22nd. This was down a bit from last month. Our Bingo sales were $2,010, prizes of $990, for a net of $1,020 We also received $221 from food donations, $247 from drink donations, and $210 from the 50/50 raffle sale. Cost of food and drink, 7% sales tax, state license fee, Crier ad cost, and cost of supplies are still to be deducted. One night widow was in attendance and played gratis on the council. Habitat for Humanity House #26 Yes, Knights Day at the Habitat for Humanity build for All Saints House # 26 will be Saturday Oct 5th. The start time is 7:30 AM at 1074 Coleman Street SW, Atlanta, GA. 30310. Please carpool as possible to minimize parking needs. We need at least 20-25 guys to sign up (your spouse, significant other, friend, or older child would lessen the total count needed). Our September 3rd and October 1st council meetings will be additional opportunities to sign up. Workers must be 16-years-old for insurance purposes. Some of you have already signed up at the last Council meeting on August 6th, so you do not have to re-sign unless you are now bringing others. When responding, PLEASE let us know the names of all volunteers in your party for an accurate worker count and for food preparation. You can sign up online (hold CNTL and click) at www.allsaints.atlantahabitat.volunteerhub.com , but PLEASE let us know you enrolled online (also a separate enrollment would be needed to be done for spouse, significant other, etc.) If it is difficult for you to enroll online, let me know ASAP please, the chief contact is Gene Gannon. His cell # is 404-992-3999, his email is below. If you can not make the October 5th Knights build, the other parish builds will continue each Saturday starting September 24th (need folks badly) until Saturday October 19th. Please try to volunteer at least once and especially for the Knights build. If you have not yet returned your financial donation toward the $58,000 needed to enable the build, please send your check made out to: “All Saints Habitat Project” at All Saints Catholic Church, Habitat for Humanity Project, 2443 Mount Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA. 30338. Questions, issues, let me know, and thank you for your support on this. Sir Knight Gene Gannon

Supreme is strongly pushing ONLINE membership as a quick doorway into KofC membership for reluctant joiners. Any practicing Catholic male who is interested in joining the Knights, but never pulled the trigger, can join online and then move at his own speed to council membership via 1st degree exemplification later. An online member is a full member getting all magazines, electronic info, and a membership card, but not assigned to a council. Online membership is $30. He can come to meetings if he chooses, but not vote. He can purchase KofC insurance. His info is sent to a local council for follow-up. If and when he decides to join a council, he is fully vetted, goes through a 1st degree, and his online membership data and initiation fees are forwarded to his council of choice. This process makes it easy for reluctant joiners to ease into council membership as time and schedule permits. Millions of men are interested in the KofC, but feel they don’t have the time to become active council members because of travel or family concerns. Tell your reluctant friends that these excuses have just disappeared.

11402 Acolyte Program Brothers, since the late 1990’s, our council has run an Acolyte Program unique in all the Order. Requested by Monsignor Kiernan, we organized a group of brothers to volunteer to act as mature altar servers at all the funerals at our parish, since young servers were hard to come by on weekends. Our acolyte teams also serve at some specialized religious ceremonies upon request (like our Mass of Remembrance). Like the military, we could use a few good men to replace those who have moved away and passed onto their reward. Our Acolyte Director, Bernie Marino, needs some new blood to serve as needed on God’s altar. Many of our brothers were altar boys when they were young. Experience is not required. Our Mass crews consist of a cross bearer, two candle bearers, a wine server, a water server, and an incense bearer. Six is ultimate, four or five men can often make do. Brother Choir Director, Bernie Sotola, usually joins us with vocals. Here are our five teams that are phoned alternately to staff Mass crews for funerals: Team A - Weekdays Jerry Howley, Captain; Norbert Braza, David Webster, Danny Ross, John Francis, Jack DeVeer, Joe Kane, Dennis Mackin, Jim Sheahan and Rick McCully Team B - Weekdays Alex Morgan, Captain; Tom Burleigh, Gene Gannon, Darrel Grabow, Ed Pierson, Jim Gonzales, Lou Hlad, Dan McDonough Team C - Weekdays Greg Coletta, Captain; Jim Herbig, Matt Allen, Keith Kieffer, Jon Bird, Woody Jones, Ernie Spencer, Bernie Marino Team D - Weekdays Gert Kampfer, Captain; John Buchholz, Dick Calupca, Dennis Caniglia, David Jeanson, Bernie Santa Maria, Ken Winkler, John Seggerson, Gray Plunkett, Dominic Palermo Team E - Saturdays only Noel Dore, Captain; Adam Drost, Dean Trantow, Joe Tuttle, Tom Burns, Michael Martell, David Riedinger, Scott Jennings, Pat Fahey
We wear uniforms consisting of a blue blazer, medium grey slacks, black shoes, white shirts, and you are given a special $35 blue Knights of Columbus tie to complete the outfit and look mighty sharp. Join your brothers in this special vocation and become an important and visible active knights. It’s actually a lot of fun. This is sort of our own council honor guard. Bernie Marino contact info is listed on the officer page 21 of this newsletter.

We just learned that Helene Tanguay, wife of Brother George Tanguay just passed, after 64 years of marriage. Pray for them. David De Meyer, a former member of 11402 about 15 years ago, passed from a blood clot while at a VA hospital in Gulf Shores, AL. Some of our older members may remember him. Please say a prayer for this transferred brother. No info available. Deceased Brother Sir Knight Dennis Crean (right) will have a classroom dedicated to him at the Dunwoody Nature Center by his widow Marie. Please pray for these people reported with health issues: Brother John Barranco, Brother John Pepitone, Judy Herbig, Anita Mitchell, Barbara Braza, Mike and Patsy Walker, Sir Knight Benny Mastrogiovanni, Sir Knight Wiley Maloof, and Sir Knight Ron and Jackie Collins.
Sir Knights are remembered upon death on engraved
