I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with your families. The council had a busy month in November with many events. The Thanksgiving dinner and turkey shoot was well attended and fun had by all. We also had a wonderful Memorial Mass chaired by PGK Al McKinley. We have quite a few events in December. Please look under events in this bulletin and choose the one you want to work on. To help out, call the event chairman and get involved. Merry Christmas God Bless All, Andy Prete Grand Knight

DEACON’S CORNER How Do You Recognize Jesus?

Many of us would say we would recognize Him in the Nativity scene. Others would say I recognize Him in the miracles He performed. Still others would say I see Him in His crucifixion, death and resurrection. How about you? Do you see Christ in those who are desperate, needy, for-gotten? Do you see Him in those who sleep on park benches with nothing more than a blanket for a roof: Mother Teresa famously said she saw Christ in the "distressing disguise of the poor". It is a disguise that calls out to us for love. It asks for acceptance in a world that prefers rejection; it seeks dignity in a world that has taken that away. Jesus walks with us on our journey. And He will stay if we only invite Him. The Jesus who stands at the door and knocks, stands too, at the door of our hearts. Do we recognize Him? We need to keep our eyes and our hearts open to His presence in our lives. Christ may ap-pear in ways we never expect. St. Matthew's gospel: "Whatever you did to the least of these, you did to Me." (25:40) Let us pray to have eyes to see this Christ in all those we encounter. And may we al-ways invite the risen Christ to be our companion on the journey, as long as that journey may last, wherever that road may take us. Deacon Terry

    INSURANCE REPORT

Scrooge Didn’t Believe We can all remember the story of Scrooge and his fail-ure to believe in the spirit of Christmas. To all but the Scrooges of the world, the celebration of the birth of Christ brings with it a warm feeling of family ties, a joy and pleasure that our faith brings to others. That same warm feeling comes from owning life insur-ance. Just knowing that, because of what you have planned, your loved ones will have joys and comforts for years to come if something should happen to you. I don’t think Scrooge would have believed in life insur-ance either, but men of good will do. And the world is a better place because of them. Through life insurance, they know that comfort and security will not be for only one day, but instead, a gift that will provide for their loved ones for years to come. This Christmas, give a gift of security and protection. I hope to hear from you. Happy and Holy Holidays to all of you, Willie Romero FICF

I don't think it is too early to start thinking about our annual fishing trip. How many times have you said to yourself that you should go on the trip at least once? This trip should be on your bucket list. Start thinking now and be ready when the next trip comes around. The annual Men's KCO (K of C Outdoor Club) fishing trip to the Bishop Creek area of the Eastern Sierra's is be held on the 1st weekend of October (10/1/15-10/4/15). Join me and 40-50 of your Brother Knights, friends, and families for a great weekend. In addition to the South Fork of Bishop Creek that runs through the campground, there are the South Lake, North Lake, Lake Sabrina and Intake 2 fishing areas nearby. The event is held at the Creekside RV Park with campsites, RV sites, and trailers available for rent. You must make your own reservation for sites. They hold a few sites for us but they are first come-first serve. Contact the office at Creekside for a reservation of your desired site. Be sure to tell them that you will be part of our group. They may be reached at 760-873-4483. Activities include a fishing derby with many prizes (adults and kids, de-pending on attendance), a BBQ Tri-Tip Dinner on Saturday Night, and card games almost every night. If we have enough interest and help we may have a Sunday morning breakfast. Beautiful mountain (elevation 8300 ft at the campgrounds) scenery, good fishing (trout up to 5 lbs) and good people. You shouldn't pass it up. Ask anybody that has ever gone, they will tell you what a great weekend it is. This event is open to Council and Assembly members, their families, and friends. We generally have only male guests (let your wives and daughters have a "ladies night out" with other fishing trip widows). Lets hope that the weather, the Edison Company, and assorted others allow for more water into South Lake, Lake Sabrina, and the creeks. Like all of California, the Eastern Sierras need water/rain/snow. Let us pray that our drought ends before we have more serious water shortages and possible ration-ing. Special Note: The pond within the Creekside Campgrounds continues to be under control of the California Department of Fish and Game. They stock the pond on their schedule. All normal Fish and Game laws apply. For more information, please contact me at a Council or Assembly Event or call me. SK Bill Alexander PGK KCO Club Event Chairman 805-527-4720

PADS Starts in November and we are in need of volunteers for the overnight homeless shelter on Sundays and Wednesdays at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The shelter is open from No-vember 1 to March 31 every year. The volunteers arrive at 7pm to setup cots and put out snacks, then hang out, chat and watch a movie with the cli-ents. You spend the night in your sleeping bag on a padded cot. We server some snacks in the morning, cleanup and are out of the hall by 7am on Monday morning. You will always be teamed up with an experienced monitor so you are never alone. Please pray about it and consider giving the Lord twelve hours to help the less fortunate. After doing it just once you will truly appreciate all the blessings God has given you, while helping those who are going through some rough times

SAVE THE DATE Jan 11 - 4th Degree Family Mass Jan 23 - 4th Degree Day at the races & pot luck Mar 22 - Disabled Veterans lunch April 18 - Casino Night May 17 - Annual Ladies Lunch CALL OUTS We recently had a couple of Call Outs and I would like to thank the Sir Knights that participated for taking the time to represent our Assembly. The first one was on Veteran's Day, Nov 11 at Lemon Park. There were about 12 Sir knights there for a very moving ceremony honoring our veter-ans. On Sunday, November 23 there was a Color Corps Call-out at St Paschal in Thousand Oaks for the installation mass of Fr. Michael Rocha, new pastor of the par-ish. At this time there are no call outs scheduled. I would like to encourage our newer Sir Knights to consider participating in call outs in the future and also consider buying regalia. If you are interested, call the Color Corps Commander, Mike Palacios.

4TH DEGREE CORNER SERVING THOSE IN NEED

I would like to thank all of the good people at St. Rose of Lima who have supported our program this past year. We are currently supporting 100-120 families per week. As we near the end of the year we are preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We are in need of the fol-lowing items: stuffing mix, gravy, canned corn and mixed vegetables, etc. We will also work with the Knights of Columbus to collect toys for the children’s Christmas Party. May God bless you, Earl Todd

What was the best part of the evening, the deli-cious turkey dinner prepared by Tony D. and his crew, the shoot out run by Bob Smith or the play ground ? I think my vote goes to the play ground. We had a large turn out of kids which was great and they had a ball on the play ground. First place winner in the shoot out was John Gorecki and Lance Holman came in second. Many thanks to Tony Demarco and Bob Smith the event chairmen for this evening and all who helped.

    KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BOWLING LEAGUE

The 2014-2015 season is progressing nicely (if you ignore your individual scores) with 12 teams.

Think about joining us this season as a sub or on the wait list for a regular position if it shows up. We can always use subs. Only $3 for a sub after you pay your USBC Sanctioning fees of $20. Let me know if you are interested in joining as a regular bowler or substitute. Returning bowlers have priority on being a regular again. Additional new regular bowlers will be asked/allowed to bowl with the following order: being a Knight, a Knight's spouse, or part of a Knight's family (age 18 and older). Friends, neighbors, coworkers or others with an existing regular bowler as a sponsor will be considered as space al-lows.

We don't need great bowlers but we do need those bowlers that want an enjoyable evening among friends and families.

God reveals himself to humble hearts, says pope VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- God reveals himself to humble and meek hearts, said Pope Francis at morning Mass. "Many can know science, theology as well. But if they do not do this theology on their knees, that is, humbly, like the little ones, they will not understand anything. They will tell us many things, but they will not understand anything," he said Dec. 2 in his homily during the Mass in the Domus Sanctae Marthae where he lives. In the day's Gospel reading, Luke 10:21-24, Jesus praises God the father for having "hidden these things from the wise and the learned ... and revealed them to the childlike. Only those who have a heart like a child are capable of receiving this revelation, those who have a humble, meek heart, who feel the need to pray, to open themselves to God, who feel poor; only those who live according to the first Beatitude -- the poor in spirit," the pope said, according to Vatican Radio. In a similar way, he said, "Jesus comes not like a cap-tain, an army general, a powerful governor, no, no. He comes like a shoot," he said, referring to the day's first reading from Isaiah 11:1-10, which describes the coming of the Messiah as a "shoot" that will "sprout from the stump of Jesse."
