you? He said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: If

you obey Allaah, then He will protect you. If you obey the

commandments of Allah, then you will have mercy on him. You will

of Karakh we were confronted by Azzd Mahar (the head of the Persian

army) and his forty elephants. In battle our infantry and cavalry faced

the opposite situation.

Muhammad bin Qasim, the Muslim army chief, became worried.

He tried to do something different, but failed. Finally he recited-

La hawla wala quwata illa billah.

He recited it aloud several times. Allaah made it a fortress for the

Muslims.

The elephants, which were advancing towards the Muslims,

suddenly stopped. Allaah caused the elephants to become hot and

thirsty, so they became restless and ran towards the water. The elephant

keeper tried their best but failed to return the elephants. In the

meanwhile the Muslim army advanced and the way to victory was

opened by the command of Allah. - [Narration:17]

[18] Narrated from Hadhrat Safwan Ibn Amr. Hadhrat Habib bin

Maslamah (rh) used to recite La Hawla Wala Quwata Illa Billah when he

the necessities for which he prays to Allah, no matter what the need

may be.-[Narration: 18]

Calamity and distress drive people to Allah

[21] Ibn Waynah (rh) said: What is disliked by a servant is better

for him than what he likes. Because the disliked thing drives him to the

supplication to Allah. And when he gets the desired thing, he becomes

indifferent.- [narration:21]

[22] Hadhrat Said bin Abdul Aziz (rh) said, Hadhrat Dawud (as)

used to say-

servant in distress. Allaah is the Most Holy, and He brings out thanks

from His slaves with peace and happiness. - [Narrated 22]

[23] Hadhrat Qurdus Ibn Amr (rh) who has read many older holy

Surrender yourself to destiny or to what Allah has ordained, no

matter where He takes you. This will keep your mind free from worries

and reduce your worries and anxieties. And save yourselves from the displeasure of Allah. Otherwise, his

displeasure will fall on you in such a way that you will be unaware of it

and you won’t even understand it. - [Narration 24]16

Presenting the need to Allah

[25] Narrated from Ibn Masud. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

[27] Narrated by Abu Huraira (ra). The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

Pray well-being to Allah in your whole life and try to benefit

from the fragrance of Allah's mercy. Because there are many fragrances

of Allah's mercy, He gives it to whomever He wills. And pray to Allah to

cover your weakness and faults and to save you from all of fear and

frightening matters.-[Narration: 27]19

Fixed sustenance

[28] Narrated by Hadhrat malik ibn abdullah muafiri. The Prophet once said to Ibn Masud (ra)

Don’t think too much. Whatever is in your destiny will happen. And your sustenance will reach you must. - [Narration: 28]20

There is happiness after every hardship

[29] Hadhrat Abu Abdus Samad Al-Ammi said: I have heard from

Malik Ibn Dinar (rh). His last words during his illness were, he said-

After poverty and hardship there is blessing and comfort. And

(it’s life’s rules that) happiness and sorrow all disappear. - [Narration: 29]

If adversity enters the stone, then ease and comfort will be with

him, even ease and comfort will follow and enter with him.

Because Allah says

Surely with hardship there is ease. With hardship indeed there is

ease.- surah inshirah 5-6 [narration:30]21

Strength on calamity

[31] Narrated by Zayd Ibn Aslam. Hdhrat Abu Ubaydah (ra)

surrounded the enemy in Syria and feared loss from them. Then he

wrote a letter to Hadhrat Umar (ra). Hadhrat Umar (ra) wrote in reply-

ة يجعل اللو لو ب عدىا ف رجا، وإنو لن ي غلب عسر يس رين، وإنو ي قول: مهما ي نزل بأمرك شد[022]آل عمران: }اصبروا وصابروا ورابطوا وات قوا اللو لعلكم ت فلحون{

Be aware! Whenever a calamity befalls a believer, Allah removes it. Remember, one-time hardship can never precede on two-time happiness. Because Allah Almighty says-

O you who believe! Be patient, compete with patience and be strong in defense. And be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful.-Surah Al 'Imran: 200 [narration:31]22

Dua yunus

[32] Hadhrat Yazid Rakkashi (rh) said- I heard Hadhrat Anas (ra) say- When Hadhrat Yunus (as) was in the belly of a fish, he made a request (to Allah) with the following Kalima-

O Allah! There is no God but You, Glorified be You! Truly, I have been of the wrongdoers.

This prayer reaches the throne of Allah very quickly. The angels said, O Lord! It sounds like a familiar but weak word and it is coming from an unfamiliar place. He said, "Do you not recognize it?" The angels said, O Lord! Who is he? He said, "He is my servant Yunus."

The angels said, "Yunus, your servant, whose deeds and acceptable prayers reach you all the time?" The angels said, O Lord! Would you not have mercy on him, and save him from this danger - while he would remember you in times of happiness?

He (Allah) said, "Of course." Then he ordered the fish, and the fish threw him ashore.-[narration:32]23

Yaqtinah

Hadhrat Abu Huraira (ra) said: When the fish threw Hadhrat Yunus (as) to ashore. Then Allaah created ‘Yaqtinah’ for him (to shadow). Ibn Qusayt said, "I asked Abu Huraira, 'What is Yaqtinah?' He said, pumpkin tree.

Hadhrat Abu Harairah (ra) also said: Allah created a wild goat for him and made him intimate with her. The goat grazed on the ground and ate the leaves and grass so that it would not suffer for the leaves and grass. And the goat used to make her drink milk in the morning and evening. Even he was completely healed. - [Narration: 32]24

Poems of Umayya Ibnus Saalt

[33] In the pre-Islamic era, Umayya Ibnus Saalt recited a poem to

this effect:

Allaah, in His mercy, has planted for him the seed of gourd.

Had Allah not done so, he would have remained weak and feeble.

- [Narration: 33]

Isme azam

[34] Hadhrat Muhammad ibn Sad narrates from his father and he

narrates from his grandfather. He said, "We were sitting with the

He said to us, "Shall I not inform you or tell you about

a supplication which, if any of you is afflicted with hardship or

misfortune in the world, reciting it will save you from it?" The disciples

said, "Of course." He said, "That is Junnun, that is the supplication of

Hadhrat Yunus (as)."

Hadhrat Yunus (as) in the depths of the sea. Then qarun called Hadhrat

Allah with you in the first step. Then Yunus (as) said to him: But what

forbade you to repent? Qarun said, "The matter of my repentance has

been related to my cousin [Musa (as)]." And he does not accept my

repentance. - [Narration: 35]

Remembering Allah with joy and sorrow

[36] Hadhrat Said Ibn Hasan said: When Hadhrat Yunus (as) went into the belly of a fish, he thought that he was dead. Then he shook his legs, and realized that he was still alive. Then he got up quickly and stood up for prayer. And said in his supplication-

in Babylon, far away in Iraq. How do I deliver food and drink there?

Allah said, O Armia! Do what I command you. I will make arrangements

Armia (as) made food. Then a man was sent who took Armia (as)

inside, who is here? Armia (as) introduced himself and said, I am Armia.

Danniel (as) said, "Why have you come here?" Armia said, "Your Lord

has sent me to you." Danniel (as) said, He remembers me? Armia (as)

said- Yes. Then Daniel (a) said-

Not long after that, Allah removed the crisis. - [Narration: 95]
