Today families of Year 4 students received our iPad booklet lsquoIgniting Curiosityrsquo which includes important infor-
mation regarding the 11 program for 2020 An iPad commitment letter accompanied this information Parents are
asked to indicate their intention to provide an iPad for their child to assist with our forward planning Please see
Glenn if you require any further information
If there is any information that we may not be aware of that may affect your childrsquos class placement next year please put the details in writing and forward to the office marked Attention Mr Glenn McConnell by Friday 25th of October This is not a teacher class selection process but an opportunity to provide in-formation which may assist with your childrenrsquos social and academic grouping While all information will be carefully considered we can not guarantee that all needs will be met To assist us with our forward planning we ask any families students who are moving to another area and not returning to Kismet Park in 2020 to notify the school office as soon as possible This information is critical in terms of class structures and staffing Thank you for your assistance

This week the grade ones and twos made a Japanese lunch It was a challenging task Once we finished we got to eat it and it was delicious
We used seaweed rice soy sauce sausages cucumber cheese carrot lettuce leaves glad wrap bowls spoons chopping boards and tweezers
In Japanese it is called Kyaraben Lots of people in Japan make Kyaraben for their children Kyaraben means lsquoCharacter Bento Boxrsquo
It was an amazing experience making our Japanese lunch We thank Anderson Sensei for organising the activity and making it possible We also thank Etsuka Sensei Kari Sun and the parents for supporting this worthwhile activity

Get your wide brimmed hats ready Sunsmart time is here and there are 5 things to remember
UV levels in Victoria are on the rise again so it is time to grab your sun protection gear and do the SunSmart Countdown Whenever UV levels reach 3 and above sun protection is needed because that is when the sun can start to damage skin and eyes and lead to skin cancer Use a combination of the following five sun protection measures
1 Slip on clothing that covers as much skin as possible (no singlet tops)
2 Slop on SPF30+ broad spectrum sunscreen (remember to reapply it before going outside)
3 Slap on a wide brimmed hat that shades the head face neck and ears
4 Seek shade
5 Slide on some wraparound sunglasses
During the Sunsmart period students not wearing a wide brimmed school hat will be directed to sit in a shaded area We appreciate your support with encouraging SunsSmart behaviours School hats can be purchased through PSW
Food is culture and food is also an easy way to learn about people and their cultures Espe-cially food serves as an important means to retain cultural identities of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds We have a parent volunteer who has offered to put together a Multicultural Recipe Book This multicultural cook-book will be produced to provide a place for people from diverse backgrounds to share with others their identities cultures and stories behind the food If you have a recipe to share and cultural story we would love for you to write these with your child as part of their home learning Completed recipes (with photos if you have them) can be dropped to the office by the end of term so we can collate the book in
