National Cycle NetworkThe nearest route is NCN Route 1, the Lochs and Glens north route. The route can be picked up at Dingwall.
Mountain Biking The Heights of Kinlochewe route starts from the doorstep and many other routes, including the Torridon loop, are within a 10-20 mile radius.
Applecross Peninsula This tiny town is home to fantastic beaches, spectacular sunsets and a diversity of shops and eateries. Take the Bealach na Ba road for spectacular views.
ShieldaigBoasting a gorgeous setting with rocky outcrops, pretty pine trees and a scattering of white-washed cottages, this quaint village is also home to a pair of rare white-tailed eagles - a truly wonderful sight.

WalkLocal routesLocal walks for all abilities directly from the site, from a 1.5k stroll to the Beinn Eighe Visitor Centre to challenging mountain walks. Maps and local walking books are available from site shop.

There are lovely sandy beaches at Gairloch, Red Point and Mellon Udrigle.
Day trips to Isle of Skye and Loch Ness were worth travelling the distance.
Make sure to try the delicious, locally-sourced food at the Gorse Bush Cafe (dog-friendly).
Try your hand at fishing for Mackrel at Gairloch Harbour.
Torridon (Thursday) and Poolewe (Tuesday) markets are great for local crafts and local fresh produce.
Kinlochewe hotel serves really good food, has a great gin selection , the staff are very welcoming and it’s dog friendly.
Visitor’s top tips
We found a different walk this year along to the other side of Loch Maree, offering lovely views. You can take a boat trip from Loch Maree too!
Eat fresh seafood at Kishorn Seafood Bar.
Walk or cycle to local Torridon, it has interesting geology and a lovely cafe.
Take a drive to Gairloch to visit their butchers shop, and also the Farm and Garden store for superb produce.
The filling station next to site offered lovely coffee and cakes.
The Russian Arctic Convoy Museum is definitely worth a visit for history lovers.
