PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Blue Mountains Dance Festival Good luck to our three dance groups who are performing at the Blue Moun-tains Nepean Dance Festival at Thursday’s Matinee and Friday night’s per-formance this week. Thank you to Mrs Papsdorf, Mrs Gibson and Ms Beavis who have coached the dance groups and to Mrs Tania Gibson. Thank you to the parents that have helped with the costumes and getting their children to and from the performances. I’m sure our student will make our school proud with their performances. Zone Athletics Carnival The Penrith District Zone Athletics Carnival was held on Wednesday the 28th August and Thursday the 29th August, 2019. Congratulations to Zachary Bateman who was the only student to qualify to the Regional Carnival. We wish him the very best in his next event. Free Dental Program All children under 18 years of age can access free dental care provided by NSW Health at public dental clinics. In addition, from July 2019 children at-tending participating primary schools in NSW will have access to free dental care through the NSW Health Primary School Mobile Dental Program. Don't forget to fill the Dental Forms that have been sent home. At their first appointment, children will re-ceive the following care (if clinically indi-cated and if parents have consented): •a comprehensive examination •dental x-rays •dental clean •fluoride varnish application •fissure sealants A review appointment may be also be scheduled within 12 months for a check-up and a second application of fluo-ride. If a child needs follow-up dental care (e.g. fillings), public dental service staff will contact parents to discuss options for treatment. This may include providing further treatment at a school-based mobile dental clinic or in a local dental clinic. Parent consent is required for any further treatment. At Kingswood South Public School, the program will be delivered by experi-enced NSW Health staff, who will be using a combination of fully equipped portable dental equipment set up in our school hall. An Information and con-sent form has gone home to all families The Dental Clinic will operate in the school hall on the 16th, 17th and 18th September, 2019. Please return the filled in form to the school office be-fore Friday the 13th September, 2019.
STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
Whole School Assembly
Our next whole school assembly will be on Wednesday, 11th September, 2019 at 2pm. This assembly will have K/1S performing. Parents are invited to attend the assembly which begins at 1.50pm. Preschool and Kindergarten Enrolments for 2020
If you, or someone you know has a child ready for preschool or turning 5 before July 31, 2020 they are eli-gible to enrol in either preschool or kindergarten next year. Please visit our school office between 8.30am and 3.00pm Monday to Friday to collect the enrolment forms. Completed application forms should be re-turned to the School Office together with the child’s original Birth Certificate, current Immunisation Certifi-cate and proof of address.
Stewart House The Stewart House Collection Bags have gone home to families. If you have clothes that your children have grown out of and are in good condition please consider donating them to Stewart House. Each year some of our students are selected to attend the Stewart House Program which is solely supported by charitable funds. While the children stay at Stewart House for 12 days they are provided with dental, opti-cal, hearing and medical screening and treatment. The children also participate in educational programs and excursions designed to develop their social and emo-tional skills, build self esteem and improve their overall wellbeing. Parking around the School Can I ask that parents please be careful when driving and parking around the school grounds. A number of parents are U-Turning in the staff carpark driveways and in front of the pedestrian crossing—both dangerous actions which can cause an accident. Also the speed limit around drop off and pickup times is 40km/h for child safety. Finally, many parents have let us know that their children have experienced online bullying and need infor-mation regarding how to support their child and report issues around online safety. The school is organis-ing student and parent sessions with the Nepean Police to educate families about safe online use. I have included some information in this newsletter on cyber bullying that may be useful for you. Regards Ms Sandra Martin Principal
