INTRODUCTION

• Library is the Heart of the Institution. Library is supported to the Teaching & Learning

System through the Library Resources.

• Kingston Engineering College Library was established in the year 2008.

• Library functions on Open Access System for all the users.

• Library is well equipped with Textbooks, Reference Books, Journals, Magazines,

Newspapers etc.

• DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) is using for classifying the library books &

Arrangement of Books for Subject-wise.

• Library Management Software is used for all the Housekeeping operations of the Library

and is fully computerized & automated with BAR code Technology.

• OPAC(Online Public Access Catalogue) is available for searching all bar coded resources to

access within our Campus.

QUALITIES OF LEARNING RESOURCES

Digital Library – 31 Systems with internet connection is available for accessing e-learning resources.

DELNET- (DEVELOPING LIBRARY NETWORK)-Institution Membership Archives – used for accessing the e-Journals, Magazines & e-Books, Rare Titles can be obtained through the Inter Library Loan, getting photo copies of Journals articles requested by users.

PROQUEST-ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY COLLECTION (e-Journal Package) - for accessing the e-journal resources. It has e-journals such as IEEE, IET, SPRINGER, ASME, WILEY, MCGRAW HILL, ELSEVIER.

NPTEL National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning-We have brought NPTEL materials related to all departments - It is stored by a separate Server and is available for all the users (OFF LINE mode -IP access). It is useful to the users to prepare their course materials & also for students using this material as their self learning resources.

NPTEL – (ONLINE) for accessing the updated NPTEL courses/subjects and also for using the online certificate courses conducted by IITS.

All e-resources can be accessed for their research work and for preparing their lesson plans. It can alsobe used for paper presentations at seminars/conferences.

CDs, DVDs & Floppies are available for accessing the e-learning resources.

Exclusive server is maintained for the Digital Library, Intra Accessing for NPTEL, Library Management Software (AUTOLIB).

OPAC facility is available for renewal of books, reservation of books, availability status of the resources.

OPAC facility is also useful for searching for articles from library back-volumes (Journals-[print version] purchased by the institution since 2008) it saves the user’s time by helping them search for the articles available in print version (back-volumes).

Availability of Reprography facility.

Student’s Project Reports & CDs (1154) are available for the reference to the users.

Library Management Software is used AUTOLIB: All the resources (Books, Back volumes, CDs & Project reports) are bar-coded in the library and barcode scanners are used for transaction purposes.

As part of the academic schedule, library hour is allotted to the students along with one Faculty in-

charge in the time table for effective utilization of the library learning resources.

Providing an environment conducive to the optimum use of library materials and an appropriate schedule of hours of service and professional assistance.

www. kingston. ac. in has an Academic Resource option where each department’s course material such as Question Bank, Lesson Plan and Academic Calendar are uploaded for effective students learning.

Library Working Hours is 8.30a.m. to7.30 p.m.- users are using the library beyond the college hours and during Weekends also.

Availability of Reference Section for accessing books related to their research work and preparing of lesson plans and for paper presentations.

Availability of General Knowledge books for competitive Examinations (GATE, TANCET, BANK EXAM)
