I started that (rocess in March2004, I thin' ?e-re doin! another le! where we-re hittin! a lot of cities that wedidn-t hit last ti)e # @uite a few actually # and so)e that we did hit last ti)e ?e had decided that we were !oin! to tryand do it that way # es(ecially for the 36 because I would not need to have an actual (ass(ort at that ti)e # cause wedidn-t 'now when I would suddenly !et this test here In the )eanti)e, we-re !oin! to start writin! a new studio albu)and ho(efully be in the recordin! Aweso)e, )an& It-s one of )y favorites ?hen I loo' bac' ateverythin!, there are two albu)s that I would not chan!e becausethey fit (erfect for the ti)e and everythin! else, and those areAbi!ail and The Pu((et Master On all the other albu)s, I 'now Ican find thin!s I would want to chan!e # li'e a hi#hat is too loud in!eneral, or the written !uitars are not beefy enou!h, or )ore bass!uitar D thin!s li'e that Maybe (arts of )y bac'in! vocal setu(swhere the first har)ony should have been a little louder at one (oint,and had it been li'e that, it would have the ri!ht feel # those 'inds ofthin!s But that-s because if you-re very self#critical and you are so)uch a (art of the whole (rocedure of recordin!, )i+in!, and)asterin! as I a) now 6o, you listen to yourself in a different way Iwouldn-t touch a thin! on those two 9albu)s: I definitely thin' thatons(iracy was one of )y best

It-s the best lineu( I have ever (layed with in )y career There-s no doubt at all It-s so solid, )an It even (lays a rolein the (erfor)ance fro) )y side too or instance, on this last tour, I don-t thin' I-ve ever done such a !ood 7ob vocal#wise on any tour This last ti)e, I felt li'e )y voice was still !ettin! stron!er and with even )ore control than before I!ot that res(onse fro) the other !uys too Al)ost every ni!ht they were sayin! Man, I can-t believe you-re hittin! allthis and that and you have not been sin!in! this !ood before # not that they were sayin! 1ou suc'ed beforeE now youcan sin! I-) very self#critical, I can tell you that There )i!ht be four shows on a whole tour that I would say I didalri!ht because I hit CF of the notes I should hit This ti)e, it )i!ht have been G0F of the shows where I hit )aybeC8F of it, to what I feel I should do 6o that is @uite a ste( for )e I don-t worry about the other !uys They 'now theirstuff They are so !ood and solid If so)ethin! !oes wron! fro) that side, it-s not the band )e)bers not 'nowin! their(artsE it would be an a)( blowin! u( or so)ethin! li'e that It-s the sa)e thin! for the crew, which you heavily rely onfor settin! thin!s u( ri!ht and )a'in! sure everythin! wor's throu!hout the show ?e have one of the best crews I cani)a!ine They are so (ro and we !o on sta!e feelin! >00F confident It )a'es you able to concentrate on what you-re

there for # to !o there and have fun, entertain, and have the two#way build#u( between us and the fans That-s what it-sall about I have a very !ood )onitor syste) that has been desi!ned and develo(ed s(ecifically for )e by our sounden!ineer There is only that one syste) in the world Those four s(ea'ers at the front of the sta!e are so (owerfulThere is nothin! but )y vocals co)in! fro) the) It-s a totally se(arate )onitor syste) fro) the nor)al house syste)that everyone else uses there There is not a dru) or !uitar note or anythin! co)in! throu!h those s(ea'ers but )yvocals, and it is blisterin! loud It-s all I feel in )y chest and I li'e it that way I 'now that if I !et in a situation whereit-s !ettin! a little hard to hear because of where I a) on sta!e, those s(ea'ers are so loud that I can feel it in )y chestso I can feel the vibration and tell whether I a) in (itch or not 6o it !ives you a lot of confidence when you !et to thelon! hi!h notes in .ye Of The ?itch, for instance, or these very hi!h (assa!es in The Invisible $uests, or so)ethin!li'e that I loo' forward to it A lot of those thin!s (lay a role and I thin' you can also hear the) on the live albu) I)ean, it-s not (erfect It can-t be
